I live in Naperville. Just got this



Never heard of a boil order before. Google tells me this:

A boil-water advisory, boil-water notice, boil-water warning, boil-water order, or boil order is a public-health advisory or directive issued by governmental or other health authorities to consumers when a community's drinking water is or could be contaminated by pathogens.


I don't have bottled water and don't feel like getting any. I will embrace the risk and refuse an ICU bed should I need one as the result of this poor decision.

Odd how I would not ignore a boil order. I think I heard too many stories in a Sanitation class I took.

As you were obviously unaware of, boil orders have been in place for a long time so I’m assuming they work. Meaning I won’t get sick if I boil my water. Kind of not like the Covid vaccine right?

we had a boil order one year right as school started. Talk about a night mare getting enough bottled water for every kid to have a few each day.

the notice they published is odd. they dont even blame a specific event. seems like routine sampling came back hot and they dont know why.

I got that alert when I was in Muncie a few years back. It lasted a day or so out of precaution. Don't be stupid. Drink alcohol, soda, or bottled/gallon water. If nothing is wrong with the water, you'll get an alert tomorrow saying return to normal.

Go get a few gallons of bottled water. You don't want to risk the alternative over $10-20. Even showering in bad water is something you want to avoid.

Funny you are willing to inject yourself with something we really don't know about so they still make you wear a mask but you are too lazy to drive to the Jewels and spend $4.

They would issue a boil order for water being contaminated or possibly being in some way. Could be chemical, parasitic, or biological and includes things like pesticides, sewage, toxins from businesses, parasites, or any other diseases. Depending on what the situation is, common water illnesses that you could be signing up for are Hep A, giardia, e coli and stuff like that.

My dad tells a story of walking through a rice paddy in nam after a napalming. There were burnt bodies and a chemical residue on the water. It was hotter than balls and he was out of water so he asked the Vietnamese National they were with to get him some water. They were gone for about 30 seconds so there was no way he didn’t get it from the paddy. He looked at the dude, grabbed a couple of the purification pills, tossed them in, shook it up and quenched his thirst with luke warm soup. Rangers lead the way and I guess he didn’t die so just use some iodine pills or whatever the hell they used jn the army in 1969 and you’ll the pipe breaking in Naperville.

The Army injected me with all sorts of shit I didn't know about upon my arrival to basic training so not really a new thing for me. 200 million Americans received the vaccine. All but a handful are fine. I know enough to take those odds any day of the week.

I don't know how the mask thing plays into this but I never wear one and haven't ever worn one when not required to. I don't think they do a fucking thing really.

I keep an electric kettle in the house for boil orders. I think I picked it up for $10. Boils 1/2 gallon in a few minutes.
