Dead at 57.

Was hired in 1990 at 25 years old. Worked with Rick Rosenthal and Steve Sanders.

She never looked 25 to me. Always looked middle age. Never really thought she was hot. But a good newscaster for sure. Much better than Matteire, who is too woke. Payne seemed humble and hard-working.

My bet is she died of Covid. But who knows.

She died of a broken heart. Wanted to retire at WGN as an anchor. Couldn't handle life without it.

She had what seemed to be a stroke or at least a couple of TIAs while she was at WGN. Was on leave for a while and eventually they moved her on.

I remember there were rumors of alcohol issues prior to her “mini-strokes”, then she later admitted she had a 20-year-long alcohol problem. I read some stuff online that after her contract was bought out at GN, she went back home to Michigan to start a production company, then tried to go back to BGSU in Ohio as a professor or something, but it never got past negotiations and BGSU put her on ignore.

Sad.

I associate her with my kid days. I guess my home watched a lot of WGN. Probably the Bulls games I'm guessing?

I had forgotten about her. Sad. That’s pretty young.

These reports should say “Former longtime anchor” not “Longtime former anchor”.

These people are in news for Christ sake. It’s like the Brokaw SNL skit.

I thought she was hot and pretty good at her job. Likeable. All arms and legs.

I thought I read that she wasn't very nice in real life but that might have been the alcohol.

RIP

heard from a very reliable source that a young cop once found her in flagrante parked on a side street near WGN late one night. It's probably now the site of Bernstein's inner city house

the grace sighting wasn't in person...it was payne doing a frank mathie/bob wallace type piece about how the cubs' biggest star didn't go home after work, watch lawrence welk and then go to sleep by 10 pm.

she looked like she sincerely loved being on his bike and going for a ride. i believe she said they went riding 'for hours'.

a friend of mine had a 'moment' with cheryl burton at a gas station. it was all about his bike. when he told me that, i immediately thought of allison payne and the bike with mark grace.

bange and harbaugh - saw them a few times downtown and a few times at o'hare. i don't believe it was a secret that they were couple in the late 80s-early 90s.

They might have been a couple in his mind.

I have heard from a few places she was passed around Chicago back in the day

Jackie was/is(?) a top notch nympho. A friend of a friend who dated her had some amazing x-rated messages from her. Too bad her prime was pre smart phone. I'm sure there'd have been plenty of self shot video.

It’s touching. The reverence in her passing.

I think the discussion has turned to Jackie Bange, who just turned 60.

Why didn't someone that hot change her name early in the game? I mean really.

It's like if I changed my name to Dick Johnson.
