"The Rising" can nearly make me cry every time, but Springsteen ruined it with that "la-la-la" post-chorus. I don't know what he should have done instead, but it saps the emotion from the song to take it into a stadium sing-a-long. It's just not appropriate to the subject material and the rest of the song.

This one is probably the best one I know of:

The Pogues- Tuesday Morning.

It somehow came out like ten years before 9/11 despite obviously being about a doomed NY firefighter on 9/11.

The Toby Keith song is jingoistic pablum but it felt good in that time.

Very similar to In America by Charlie Daniels during the Iran hostage era.

The Coup's follow up to Steal This Album was slated for September 2001 release with an album cover of Boots and Pam blowing up twin towers:

Not 9/11 related, always enjoyed this Coup track:

DJ Sammy Heaven. Recorded a year later with the voice of a little girl remembering her dad on 911. Still brings tears to this day.

Agreed. I probably haven’t heard that song in over 10 years but it was fun having it blasting outside the barracks and 50-100 drunk ass soldiers singing along to it

The Rising is an okay song, better version is Nancy Wilson doing it .

Goldfinger doesn't make bad songs. Just pretend you can't understand the lyrics and the music is usually good. Some people say you are passing over to the other side while walking down a tunnel towards a white glowing lights, others argue that you hear the opening riff to Superman while dropping in on a vert pipe.

Yeah I’m guessing that was happening all over. The “we’ll put a boot in your ass, it’s the American way!” Line always got everyone jacked up

Yeah that’s a good one.

Hell, 7-8 more beers and I might throw that song on later. Haven’t even thought about it since I was at Ft Polk

I've listened to that and In America twice today.

Probably fire up the fire pit tonight and revel in my pressure privilege while I listen a few more times.

We’ll put a boot in your ass, it’s the American way is the pinnacle of lyrical accompaniment.

It’s perfect.

I always liked, "The Statue of Liberty was shakin' her fist."

We heard that song while shopping down in Siesta Key this year and Both thought it was one of the most laughable set of lyrics I’d ever heard. I guess I could see it if you were serving like FF noted but I see it more like Cubs fans loving Go Cubs Go after a victory. Still an awful song.

I blasted the song a couple times today in my apartment with the windows open. It’s still pretty good even though I’m definitely not a Toby Keith guy in general. Also a little fucked up at this point.
