Monsoons woke me up. Was Les and Grote going at it last night? The tension is real this morning. Mitch called in 10 minutes ago to make sure things were alright at home with Les.

Grote sees Les as the grandpa clown. He pushes the envelope to see how far he can go with Les.

What has he done worth being jealous of since the Lujack show ended?

from Grote's perspective, he's had a steady paycheck

It’s hard to not admire the hustling Les has done to make money over the last 30 years or so.

Having said that, he has not always had a steady paycheck unfortunately.

I was listening to Grote the other day (with Parkins?), and got a chuckle when he said, "Ironically, in high school I didn't drink."

When Les said the "homogenization" of baseball" he must of meant something like "pussification".

Les is all about a paycheck, not quality, which is obvious. He puts out assembly line, repetitive slop.

Wednesday night his transition talk to Grote he reached screaming loudness. Grote plays him for a fool constantly going after him to get him to say something stupid. That night Les said he's got a buddy who got NHL Vegas seasons tickets. He now will buy Krakens's season tickets. Grote asked "he bought crack?" That's what really set Les off. Then things got louder.

The next night when Mitch Rosen called Les he went into damage control mode oblivious to all. He did his signature talking over his boss. Mitch Rosen said "don't interrupt me".

There was some realism, but mostly theater mocking Les. Sad everybody on the Score, including Rosen have no respect for him. They're throwing a squeeze toy down the hallway getting Les to fetch like a dog.

Les talking to caller "Tom from Algonquin".

Tom- Heyward might be the guy that gets traded. A high echelon team is going to want a leader like Jason Heyward. Might be able to steal the farm from somebody.

Les- He pinched hit last night. He hit the ball very well (weak infield grounder). They were able to turn it into an easy double play.

A caller talked about classic rock concerts he'd seen in Milwaukee. Les chimed in with:

Neil Young had joined the Eagles by that time.

les seemed to baffle a much-needed younger listener last night. les was on a 'great chicago sports rivalries' kick last night and a 20-something called in.

the 20-something talked about matt stafford and the lions and how he hated stafford's frat-boy persona..

les: "yes, the hawks and canucks had some doozies".

caller: stunned silence. "football, matt stafford. detroit."

les: "but what about those canucks?? the hawks usually beat them more than they beat us"

caller: "i'm in my 20s, i'm talking about the bears and lions. can't stand stafford's frat-boy...."

les: "yes, some brawls broke out between the bears and lions."

les is a classic. i guess he wanted to talk about harold snepsts, roger neilson and the white towels.

Les has an older caller "John from Bridgeview" talking about a class action lawsuit against MLB for "Manfred's Man", and 7 inning double headers. The guy sounds serious. He's got a Chicago law firm supposedly that's very powerful in New York City and DC also. He's probably not worth 1k, talking about undertaking a multimillion $ task. Les is playing it straight and actually letting the guy talk.

Once Les hangs it up that'll be it for screwball, poor soul callers, and pranks played on gullible Les. Les' show is caller centric but he'll have huge blocks of time no one calls. Les then masterful kills time and creates Chicago's worst sports radio ever.

He had to cut the grass for Kathy. Thug life. BTW, don't you guys think Les hit the jackpot with her? I don't think it's a possible a 68 year old overnight radio host can do better.

East side of Chicago Tom calling Les complaining about Khalil Mack.

Tom- Khalil Mack. He's the Jason Heyward of the Bears. All the money's with him. We can't do nothing
Les- At least JH hits game winning home runs every so often. (He has hit 3 as a Cub. Each one costs $60+ million).

More classic Les Monday morning. A caller talking about who could replace Pace & Nagy. Les replied;

Maybe they'll bring in "Bebe" Rebozo of the old Red Skelton Show.

"Bebe" Rebozo was a Florida banker and businessman who was a friend and confidant of President Richard Nixon.

I think Les meant Red Skelton character "Clem Kadiddlehopper" who was the dim-witted country bumpkin who was loved by all. It was a character who seemed like a fool, but every so often he would get one up on his counterpart.

Les & Quad Cities Doug discussing who'll be worse in '22 (Cubs or Pirates).

Les- The Pirates have good players. They get rid of them quickly.
Doug- What did the Cubs do? They got rid of all their players
Les- No they didn't. They still have Contreras. They still have some decent players. And winning a lot of games late.

Les gave insight into the Red Sox, and Astros tied at 2.

So that's going to become a variable best of three series.

Caller I-80 Frank asking Les.

Do you think Michael would have won without Cartwright?

If Les said yes then he is an idiot.

Parkins played a funny clip of Les arguing with a caller who insisted that Dalton would've beaten GB by three touchdowns.

Les is so desperate for callers, and the fact he's slow to tell when he's being pranked, it gets pretty funny. He's got a "wack pack" of looney regular callers who idolize him.

After commercial break at 4 Les had a 2 minute audio clip of the Blackhawk John Doe investigator talking from the news conference.
In the background playing was "Lets Spend the Night Together" by the Rolling Stones.

You make it sound like he's an Alzheimer patient in a nursing home confined to a wheelchair. He still has a sound mind. He's an oddball. Getting nightshift sleep. He's afraid of his own shadow. Afraid to give any opinions. Those things make him say hilarious things.
He treats a lot of callers like dirt that adds to the mix. He's fair game.

last week, les was very good when interviewed when the sun was up. he was talking about thigpen/steinbach/larussa/reporter glass.

he's admiral halsey talking about larry gura 1973 and this 1989 (i think) incident.

he doesn't pay enough attention to deviations in today's sport...he sounded like lost in space when he was exposed; and tried to defend himself - for having no clue about 'techniques' of NFL linemen.
