I was suggesting the part where EVERYONE was in the nWo. We are mixing in friends in other promotions and bringing back more friends in Cole.

Demon Balor hint at the end of this week's Smackdown.

Watched some of the YouTube interviews, noticed how they actually said "professional wrestling", which is supposedly a term Vince has banned. It points to an understanding that pro wrestling and sports entertainment are two entirely different concepts.

Vince has always thought he could take any body builder/fitness model and make them into sports entertainers. Warrior is the best example of this concept worked to it's fullest potential. Performers with short shelf lives that you can change out every couple of years.

However, it does seem there is still a market for the traditional US pro wrestling concept, and most of the younger fans have not been exposed to most of the traditional angles, or have seen guys cutting spontaneous promos. It seems Tony Kahn has at least established a foothold, will he be able to grow audience, it seems the WWE is vulnerable right now, especially if/when Vince sells/retires.

Amongst all the happy, grab ass AEW debuts, how about bringing in Wyatt using a variation of his WWE gimmick. Could do vignettes during Punk's promos, showing a mysterious dude looking in the windows at Punk's house, or a mysterious guy reaching out to pet Larry. Keep those going for a few weeks as Punk freaks out and kayfabes with Tony Kahn, during which Kahn acts surprised and denies any knowledge of what's going on. You then get a long program during which you eventually identify the stalker and a series of revenge matches leading up to a finisher. It gives AEW a much needed heel for guys like Punk to work with and gets Wyatt involved, potentially with him doing a Sullivan like stable.

WWE, especially now, is going after the anti-AEW demo. It actually is a smart business decision on Vince’s part: why should he try to battle an upstart company with a “pro-wrestling” philosophy that targets 18-49, when he can try to get the young kids and their parents? He for sure will lose part of the WWE fan base, but I think he thinks in the long run that they will still have a larger audience overall. Having said that, if he loses too much of his audience over the next year or two, Fox and NBC may rethink how much money they want to continue to invest (if they don’t buy the company outright before then) into a company that may have a market value of $5-6 billion, but right now is only marginally profitable based on pandemic-era cost-cutting?

If they bring in Wyatt, I would rather keep Punk out of any gimmicky storylines. I would also believe that Wyatt would reinvent himself again into another creepy character, but maybe for AEW just creepy enough without going full-blown over-the-top.

Uno and Grayson look like they might be going back into a more heelish role. Bray coming in as their influence could work. Then have them feud with the rest of the goofy Dark Order.

It would seem there is a large audience for pro wrestling, after all the viewership numbers are no where near where they were back in the day, the current content is simply not interesting to people who grew up watching pro wrestling and there are tons of people out there that fit that demo.

If AEW can put out some stuff that interests guys like me they can reach a much larger audience, they kids really don't know any better and likely would be interested because they have never seen many of the old time angles.

They need heels badly, most of this grab ass were all happy to be here with our friends stuff works when they debut, but they need to build some old school heel hatred to give the roster full of baby faces someone to work with, Punk and Danielson are legit stars, but who will they work with on this roster?

I am gonna guess they few feuds for Punk will be Daniel Bryan, and some type of tag match with Sting/Darby. They really need Bray Wyatt.

Vince told him that he and Bruce were taking over NXT and Hunter had a heart attack.

Sad!

We going to get another "Dr. Heiney"-type of vignette?

Why are they having Hobbs go so long with a skinny guy like that? He should be crushing people.

Didn’t catch the whole show, but caught enough at the beginning and end to know that E was en fuego the whole time. I was L’ingOL during the opening segment when he was in there with Lashley/MVP/Riddle/Orton.

I was a little disappointed that Orton didn't beat Lashley for the title last night. With the success of RK-Bro, it just seemed fitting to have Orton be a double belt holder... But then Lashley defeats Orton with a spear at 9:53 and I looked at the Wife with a "WTF..." look completely forgetting the earlier promos about Big E touting his MIB case. Then they take 4 minutes of commercials, come back and Big E wins the title.

So does this set up a Lashley rematch and/or Orton going after Big E?

As to NXT makeover, from the promos, I don't know why they messed with their imaging. The early 90's style color splashing looks stupid. Their current black, yellow and the logo worked. This looks like I'm having a flashback to 1993.

That was more of an indie look. The early 90s color style fits their new focus of having younger talent on the roster.

If he gets more serious, it has a chance of working; classic white-meat babyface.

I was thinking from the perspective of the colors then layering red/blues over one, along with the graphics, etc... Just reminds me of the early 90's.

Im glad for him he got the championship, but I dont expect this to be a long reign.

It was a feel good moment for him and the fans so I am okay with it.

Good for Big E, seems have to give props to the New Day guys for coming up with a gimmick that has lifted them from the middle to the top of the card.

Have always found it odd that the WWE never really talked about him being a former division one athlete, especially now that they have signed Gable Stevenson, who will likely be promoted as a legitimate "wrestler" even though "pro wrestling" is supposedly one of Vince's banned terms.

I just wanna say that Thunder Rosa could get it. And by it i.mean a proper night/++ of thoroughly passionate love-giving (cuz semantically i aint making it as much as i am a benevolent provider of the cawk) and ummm yeah. I am still somewhat virile and i want you to.know, yes, i would have sexual relations with Miss Rosa.

Anyways i heard some AEW marks complained punk's firat match vs darby was "too.slow" meaning "not enough no stop flippy shit" and too many rest holds, basic punch/kick exchanges coming in or out of sporadic spots with flips and high flying action. Personally i.thought it was a great balance which hopefully.rubs off on other wrestlers to try and simulate combat/sport as opposed to a highly coreographed two person gymnastics routine.

Shit look at the end of danielson/omega 1 that had them exhausted and punch/kicky for the final 10mins. Big spots were built up.two and largely surrounded by believeable selling of "reat holds" and "punchy kicky" and it reminded me of the old NJPW omega feuds where each match had its story (i.e. kenny couldnt get a one winged angel in) but over time does dragon kick.out of the angel or dies ge develop new tactics to try and take kenny out within 15-20?

All in all.i.hope dragon and punk.slow down AEW from full.on.indie madness to a hybrid of oldschool/traditional grappling/wrasslin that saves its bullets for properly biolt up flippy counters/moves to really be a ! At the end if a sentence thats telling a story as opposed to traditional AEW fare that tries to.be !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And then go !! ? !! ? !!! (GO HOME)

TLDR = i hope punk and dragon bring aew up.to their level as opposed to.them going down to be just q cpl.more boys doing AEW flippy shit / mediocre television.

Punk.vs Cody has gotta be the first big feud/program/rivalry for punk, right? Call out cody as a cocky smarmy self-important VEP and put up.an.evwntual stip for (kayfabe?) evp role for punk.if he can defeat cody. This way ppl.will.believe real evolution/progress is possible as opposed to punk and danielson eventually sinking down to put over the upper/midcard to put those guys over (whether or not they job clearly rhey want hobbs ro.gst the rub from.punk)

Meanwhile i hear getting "the rub" from don callis is un/fairly easy to do. You know what i'm saying?
