Good game. About what I expected in terms of being close, defense looked great today but still gave up a big play late which helped the Bengals get back in it.

Fields had some good and some bad today. He’s clearly green when you watch him, but that talent also shows up too on runs like the one he had late and that great throw to A-Rob in the end zone that was dropped. Great opportunity for him to get some time but I’d still start Dalton if Dalton is ready to go next game.

What sucks is those two drops by mooney and a-rob made fields #s look pedestrian... before the horfible INT.

that said coming off of that INT/CINN-TD he stepped up and iced the game witg that 3rd down run on 3rd and 9 at the 2min warning. Dalton can never make that play. If dalton is in thete very good cjance they dont complete a pass on 3rd and 9, or even run it to.plsy clock game b4 punting it back and hoping your defense isnt the one that gave up that bomb TD.

Fields needs to be out there early to make his mistakes, learn, and adapt. I dont care what you say that defense got energized once he got out there and that led to the parade of tirnovers qhich led to the win. You need fields out there foreal.

Fields had 10 rushes for only 31 yards...it felt like so much more.

Sacks eat away at that, no? BTW Hampton is taking Nagy to task for the play call on third down that led to the Fields int.

Ok but the offense cannot score off a pick 6. But yes terrible execution on the other turnovers.

No game radio or TV down here, although I did listen to a few plays on XM's audio equivalent of Red Zone. Plus David Shuster did the update from Soldier Field when the Bengals cut it to 20-17. Nice to see him pick up some spending money.

And Hampton would take Nagy to task for breathing...

Sacks count against passing yards.

If a-rob and mooney catch the deep.balls right on their hands the bears offense manages another 10pts snd fiekds looks that much better, probably not having to try sland force the pass on 3rd and 5+ with ~4-5mins left that was the INT that gave cincy their 2nd TD

As it stands since fields made some mistakes i GUARANTEE nagy says dalton is still.his starter and if he's healthy he's starting @ CLE. The intangible here is i'm sure its a total coincidence that the defense came alive and got a bunch if turnovers once fields got in the game. It has nothing to do with who's leading the offense.

Plus when faced with the same situation where he threw the horrible INT, the 2nd time around fields saw nobody open, didnt try to force it again, and instead broke out running to the left, shed a tackle/r and got that first down that ended the game. That shows me something and hopefully dalton.is hurt enough to give fields the.start cuz dalton was 9/11 56yds 1TD 0INT Fields 6/10 60yds 0 TD 1 INT but he had 2 drops for at least 50yds and a sure TD so i think.if a-rob makes that catch to.make it 27-3 or whatever fields isnt in that situatiom to throw the horrible INT

Correct. Bears should have had least 27pts.

But a win is a win.

Srsly OB is damn near singlehandedly resurrecting the score's 83 meme today cuz of the bears 83 net passing yds today.

All Cincinnati had to do was chuck 40 yard yolo bombs every other play, and they would have won. This secondary is still dogshit. Nice to see the defense have a game, but this team doesn't have a chance against anyone but the lions. Still a flukey 5-12 team.

I'll put them.im.the 9-8 to 8-9 bubble, even with fields unless he turns out to be a Lamar Jackson style breakout superstar. Then the bears could win 11 or 12 games make the playoffs and be a one and done when a better coaxh/ing-staff coaches the pants off of nagy and shuts down whatever he wants to do and nagy goes to his comfort zone: crowtonedque 2yr passes to receivers on either a WR screen or out near the flats who have to break/evade at least 2 tackles to convert on 3td and 8.

That said, I would feel a lot better about the bears in the (near) future if a-rob catches that TD and makes it 27-10 (or would it have been 27-3 at the time?) So that way iFields isn't third and 8 ciirca his 15yd line trying to force a throw in for 1st down to prevent the Bengals from getting the ball back and having a chance to make it 20-17 with 2-3mins left.

Instead he tried to stay in the pocket and force a pass and the INT came and it was 20-17 with 3:39 left with the Bengals having 2 TOs + 2min warning. I said if the Bengals got the ball back with 1min/+ they likely win the game outright instead of settling for the FG/Tie (even tho OT = first TD scored wins and seeing how our secondary blows coverages and gets burned like, say, jamarr chase twice on the eventual 20-10 drive.... OT is probably a win for CIN unless fields caught a lucky bomb or made a 75yd Michael Vick run for the endzone)

AHEM.

Yeah, instead Fields learned from his mistake and adapted in the same situation I'm the same place 5 IRL mins later so he decided to trust his legs, stiff-arm/break a tackle/r and run for 11 to get us into the victory formation for the last set of downs. Considering that there's no way Dalton makes that crucial run at the time, he ends up throwing a stupid crazy short pass that gets stopped, taking a sack, or just calling a run to keep the clock going to get to 2min warning.

That, my friends, is why the bears need fields out there ASAP to make his mistakes, learn from them, adapt, and get better. There's literally no future with Andy Dalton (who did absolutely nothing after the first drive) so why waste more time on him unless you're legit scared of losing the kid to a season ending injury in the next few games, 8n which case why did you draft him if you're always afraid he's the next RG3--n-out going forward?

This game shows why Pace/Nagy drafted Fields. Obvious passing talent, and why they started Dalton who looked decent today. It shows why they have not started Fields yet as he made typical rookie mistakes. As much as we all want Fields in there, if you are looking to win now, Dalton is better suited for that.

If we just want to develop Fields, then he should start.

Nagy trying to turn Fields into a pocket passer. #FIRE NAGY!

AROB drop was huge. Your #1 wanting a superstar contract needs to make that play.

I thought he said they don’t think it’s an ACL injury but that they’d do the MRI tomorrow to diagnose.

The slow-mo replay made it look like his lower leg shifted completely outside the knee. I’m going to internet doctor this thing and say LCL sprain.

I know we fall in love with MOBILE QUARTERBACKS, but Fields was generally a pocket passer at OSU. Sure, it was because he could stand there forever behind their line, but I don't fault Nagy if part of the plan with Fields is starting to get him comfortable in the pocket. Now I don't trust Nagy and the line to do it, but it's not the worst idea.
