Seen this movie dozens of times but not in the last several years. Turns out it’s still one of the best movies ever. Just a classic.

I used to bowl every weekend. I was at Hoffman Lanes one time, and it was the first time I saw a black guy bowling. He threw the fastest straight ball I ever saw, and when it hit the pins the whole alley boomed.

ron shelton was the guru of sports movies. "bull durham", "white men can't jump", "blue chips", and "tin cup". he also did "the great white hype" and "play it to the bone". not as great, but he still had his chops.

Con Air is objectively great. Rare miss by Darko.

Really my problem with that movie is Cage. Hes distractingly awful as an actor.

Speed, Con Air, Money Train, Twister....

None were ever going to win Best Picture, but the fact is that they're entertaining.

No doubt you need to be a certain mood. But I like White Men Can’t Jump and Con Air. Many have commented on Cage’s shitty accent and cheesy lines in that movie, but it works overall.

I am an absolute sucker for Revenge of the Nerds Part 2: Nerds in Paradise. The introduction of snotty as booger’s master, and the hotel proprietor with her “magic carpet” line around the dead body outline are my highlights.

And from the original when they are looking for housing, they send the Asian kid to go knocking on a Japanese guy’s door. The homeowner answers and spews a bunch of lines in Japanese, and then finishes in English with “NERD”. Classic.

A funny thing I read about that movie is that when they were casting Cusack he read the script and said, "This is ridiculous, but I'll do it if my character can wear sandals the whole time."

Cusack is pretty bad in that movie but he crashes that asshole’s car with the asskicker license plate.

I just watched some of White Men Can't Jump recently, and I didn't think it aged very well BUT I remember back when it came out going to see it with my friends and how funny we thought it was and it brought back a lot of good memories of that time period for me, those were some good, fun years. Watching it made me remember that and for that reason I will always say it was a great movie. HOWEVER Rosie Perez is terrible. She has been in some really good movies but her brash, screechy on-screen persona is the worst.

White Men Can't Jump had a lot of great humor, but the movie had a dark / grim ending, which wasn't consistent with the humor it had up front. I remember thinking it was presented via trailer as a comedy. By the end, it wasn't a comedy.

Great stuff in it, though. The "You Can't Hear Jimi!" is still classic
