Agree. Was waiting for Mac to tell Berns to fuck off.

Bernsie had an angry look on his face. But he always has that "angry look". The few times I've seen him he looks like that.

I know Mac hates Bernsie. Don't know if Bernsie even cares to think about it.

I thought it was interesting that the first time they went around in the tease segment. Hampton and Mac gave a relaxed, conversational type response.

Bernstein went into TV guy mode and sounded like he had scripted his remarks. It was very professional but also very Greenberg-like. I'm not criticizing Bernsie because from the snippets I watched this morning as I was leaving, I thought Mac and Bernsie were the best part of the show.

I just found it interesting that Mac and Bernsie's contrasting styles were so apparent even in a small TV sampling.

I think Mac was wearing more make-up than Mrs. Ferris but my guy did a nice job. Sherri did a nice job in picking out the John Chico's suit and I loved the clip on tie Mac was wearing. :P

I cut anyone slack who is doing a live show as hosts are at the mercy of producers and interns most nights.

Never been a fan of Bernsteins and for some reason I just don't find the guy likable. Seems borish and should be hosting an MSNBC show somewhere.

The fan den seemed like something that you would see in Green Bay or Grand Rapids, Michigan or on a local cable high school football channel. I was embarrassed for Mac and Bernstein and the city of Chicago when i saw that.

I give the show a C+ but to me it's not a must see unless a guest I like is on. The fantasy guy seems a little to sqirmy to me and they should of hired our guy Deep (Sawa) to do that segment.

BTW, what happened to Sawa hosting with Harry on FFI?

the weird thing though is that B&B is loose and off the cuff whilst MJH is thought out from beginning to end in meetings. Makes you wonder who really influences the course of B&B, although Mac did alude in his post that Bernsie was looser and cared less about the show...weird contrast, perhaps someone is not being forthcoming with the whole truth. Then again, why would Mac cover for Dan?

When I said Bernsie sounded scripted, I didn't mean that I thought it was actually scripted. I just think that is his style.

It's not conversational. It's more analytical in tone.

They are all analyzing. Mac does sound like a guy at the saloon. Bernsie sounds like a guy, ironically, on ESPN.

The show was both weird and cool at the same time.

They'll clean up some shit. Just have it be the 4-person pannel with some filed Bears reports from Peggy. Keep it simple stupid.

The more I think about it, the more I hope they keep it the exact same. The comedy of errors, the weird fan den, the uncomfortableness of Bernsie and Mac sitting next to each other, that awful NBC guy, Paula chatting with viewers on air, and Hampton giving a football though then going to sleep for baseball chatter, it was 45 minutes of fascinating television and high comedy.

If you're looking for a smooth finished product with Bears wrap up, there's plenty out there between McPherrin and Waddle and the Comcast guys.

If you like good Bears thoughts from Bernsie and Mac along with all types of unintentional comedy, then this show is perfect. There's plenty of those other shows around, this sucker is one of a kind.

In response... To Slap Shot

I will no longer will be co-hosting Fantasy Island with my good friend Harry, I spent 8 years with ESPN as fantasy Football contributor and enjoyed my time at station and made some great friends. But as one door closes another opens and mine has opened at the Content Factory. I am currently the Full-Time Co-Host of Pro Football Weekly Fantasy show with Hub Arkush which airs every Sunday from 8-9AM and will be 52 week show on the SCORE.. I also will be doing one minute fantasy hits starting Monday Sept 15th that will be heard sometime during the 4-6 pm time slot 7 days a week on the SCORE as well. Both the fantasy show and Fantasy minute are in process of syndication with the Content Factory and we expect to be hitting 20-25 stations this Sunday.

Also any of you fantasy players ever want to email me directly with fantasy questions more than glad to answer them. Email is brian@gametimedecisions.net

Getting back to the show, everybody loves 'LISTS' - perhaps the show could have a TOP TEN LIST of some type.

Example:

Is that one of Mackey's previous wives on that list at Number Seven?

Wow. I was part of history. It was "Wayne's World" on Chicago's NBC affiliate. Amazing. That was one of the most interesting experiences in my broadcast life. Just watched it. I met my goal, which was merely don't do an Albert Brooks in "Broadcast News."

I give myself a 'C'. Didn't show enough emotion. Didn't smile enough, although I do loathe the fake smile on TV. Could have been much funnier and much more animated. Thumbs up for my wardrobe choice. Have to give Sheri credit for that. Barring the Mark McGwire pock or two on the left side of my neck, I looked damn good.

Hampton is decent on camera and is beloved by Bears fans for what he did as a player. I am among his fans. Didn't notice it when I was on but it looked like Hamp almost fell asleep after we did baseball highlights. Wonder how that will play out 10-noon on the Score in October. Larry Diamond Notes, I guess.

Bernsie was okay. Comfortable enough. He helped me to relax a bit because he really didn't care all that much. He was a bit verbose, but he is Dan Bernstein.

If I looked uncomfortable, it was because I felt sorry for the production people who have to sit down and go over this with the bosses. I hope sales is happy with the Ford Fan Den, because it is most embarrassing to the programming department and, come to think of it, to the City of Chicago.

Having said all that, I think I might be up for more.

You were fine. I thought Bernstein made a fool of himself, trying to act like 'too cool and smart for everyone in this room'. That or he must be a miserable fuck to hang out with. I'd like to see you and Boers on the show, now that would be some buzz, tell the crusty old man to come outside of this room

The worst part was how NBC handled the whole thing, 'oh man, we gonna see some arguments now!', forced and awkward. Chat, what's the point (especially now that I'm permanently banned  )? And the fan den, hearing some guy scream 'Bears!' repeatedly, what the fuck?

Good point. Diffence is I would never talk to Paula. I would never bother her. I realize she is too good to talk to someone like me. Larry doesn't realize that about himself. Plus he lusted over her. I just said she was pretty.

Out of sheer boredom and to relive the experience, I'm watching it again on Tivo.

When Mac proclaims that when everybody else gave up on Paul Konerko two months ago, he didn't - you can see Bernsie give some snide look at he glances down at the table.

Then Dan Hampton says that "these guys have read the reports that Carlos Quentin is the one man gay"

lol... nice slip up there marble mouth.

The production is better, but its still horribly cheesy. Dan, Carmen, and Holmes sound fine. But the rest of this is awful.

One of their teases during a commercial break used this word in large font:
DISASTEROUS

Doesn't anyone working on this show know how to spell?

What's with the "Ford Fan Deck"? What the hell is this...the "Mike Ditka Show" that Johnny Morris & Howard Sudberry did with a live audience in the '80s?
