Yeah, I'm old. I watch all the stuff I rolled my eyes at my parents about.

The piece they did on Tony Bennett was both tragic and inspiring.

Alzheimer's is a horrible disease. My brother has it. It impacts everyone around you, like a mini-pandemic with no vax or cure.

To see how he lit up with music was inspiring. Really an interesting watch.

But it's worth watching. We need to figure this out.

I'll throw in a great TB SNL sketch also (back when Alec Baldwin did funny impressions).

alzheimer's is pretty much a genetic thing, no? 23 and me or private DNA analysis could inform as to whether one's at risk for it.

I like 60 Minutes Aussie outlet, it's a more in-depth take on American news stories; pulls no punches when it comes to American royalty (celebs). Does skew a bit tinfoil-hat/q-anon-ish (in tone, not necessarily political pov) with some of its content and Weekly World News with other, off-beat stories. And they bloody can't stand fucking China.

I don't know if that is proven. It is a theory.

I try not to think about it. My brother got it in his mid-50s. It's just a horrible thing.

But, let's hope not.

I'd love nothing better than to bother you folks for another 15 years.

Mayo says genetic testing is more appropriate only for early onset Alzheimer's (which is rare).

Edit: I see by Doc's post that the early onset may have been the concern. Sorry to be an alarmist.

Yeah, he got early onset and it came on quickly.

It's a sad story. Sorry to bring it up.

But the Tony Bennett thing was pretty nice. I love TB.

Yeah he's great. I'm a big fan of that style of music in general.

That was interesting how he could maintain the songs but not much else.

Had no idea Tony had Alzheimers. Saw him years ago at Ravinia and it was great.

Sorry about your brother, Doc.

Have a buddy whose brother and mother both passed at 50 from early onset Alzheimer’s. My wife and I are convinced that he’s exhibiting some signs himself the last few years and he is 45. He was up earlier this summer and he asked me the same questions a number of times. I DVR 60 Minutes so I’ll check out that story on Tony.

I had no idea he was 95 years old. That's a hell of a career and life.

When did Anderson Cooper take over 60 minutes and start looking like Sam the Eagle?

I don't know that they will ever get the brain figured out. I was always fascinated by things my grandfather would say and memories he'd have and then the ones he wouldn't. It never made me sad, I guess if I thought about it it could, but you knew it wasn't working like it used to. He'd have odd moments of clarity and I really enjoyed those.

He's a Vanderbilt. He was born with silver hair.

There was a 60 Minutes story on the genetics of the disease a few years ago. It was about a family that had a history of it. Some of them getting it in their 30s. Sad story, but the silver lining is studying the family has a lot of scientific value for researchers. Sorry to hear about your brother.
