Rodon will outpitch him. He and Larussa have been playing rope a dope with the rest of the baseball world

Good stuff.

It was definitely the best pregame video/presentation Ive seen at a Sox game. The Sox really nailed that part of it.

Astros in theory could counter with Verlander in game 5.

You gotta win two. You gotta beat him in particular, once.
Better sooner than later. There's no prize for losing in 5 instead of of 4.

There is absolutely no prize but I shifted the goalposts a little bit and that I will feel a little better about the series if they push it to five games at least.

Because if it goes 5, Sox win. Houston's chance is tomorrow. A Dusty team is not winning a game 5.

Starting McCullers is the correct move for Houston. Go for the kill shot in game 4. I remember the Flubs in 84 starting Sanderson in game 4 instead of Sutcliffe. Was a big mistake

I feel from a managing standpoint it is the correct move as it sends the right message to the players. If it doesn't work out, so what? Still have game 5.

So out of 32 managers, how many hold off their best pitcher until game 5 if he can go on normal rest on the road in game 4?

If you are referring to Lynn, he's not the best pitcher and a bad matchup. I think LaRussa likes the fact that Rodon is chomping at the bit. It's both a statistical and a gut decision. I like it.

But it is also theoretically good for the Sox. They get their hottest pitcher at home, where they seem to see the ball better than anywhere on the road.

The last guy u ever think has to do with a Sox win is Frank Costanza.

That leaves them almost their whole bullpen for Game 5. Giolito, Lopez, Kopech, Tepera, Kimbrel. Bummer can slot in for wherever the 2-out crisis is with a tough lefty on both days, and Cease is there if it gets to the 11th.

WTF??

How bout Rodon for 7, Kimbrel for 1 or less, Hendriks the rest.

It's not like this guy is Bob Gibson.

Definately not Gibson, but has been the best pitcher in the series by far.

Way too much overanalyzing.

Doesnt matter who pitches for them.

The key is Rodon doin' good.

Sox hitting is good enough at home to hit just about anybody.

We're going to beat Houston the next two games. The tide has turned. Everyone felt it the last game. Houston can't overcome the Sox great spirit and the spirit of the Chicago fans.

LaRussa has them all figured out now. Dusty doesn't know what to do.

Well, you're possibly costing your best pitcher a start in the ALCS if you needed it. If you can win tomorrow without him you have McCullers for Game 1.

Looking ahead gets a lot of teams in trouble.

The Sox got the benefit of a wide strike zone last night.

I thought the 2 strikeouts looking on Altuve were outside. Especially that last pitch. I'm surprised Altuve didnt argue at all.

They wont get that in Game 4.

I'm surprised nobody's talkin' about this.

You need to get to the ALCS to worry about it. Is there precedent to hold off your best pitcher when he is on normal rest? I really don't know the answer as I never pay that close attention.

I think you have to look at the whole picture. In this case, I don't think it matters much. It's not like there's an enormous difference between McCullers and these other guys. But if I have a real top ace like Scherzer or Kershaw at his best and my next guy is middle of the road and I'm going against a team that is having pitching issues of their own like the Sox are right now, I think the best idea would be to try to close this one out without using my best guy and have him lined up for two games plus against the Red Sox.

This should show anything can happen, and that the path after isn't as daunting.
