I played with Legos as a kid but I might have been one of only a few girls that did. I had a variety set and a house or 2 and the astronaut ones. The lego friends sets would have been fantastic, they are great for girls. My daughter and most of her friends really like them. Girls and boys play differently and it's not all because they've been conditioned to. It's a shame what we are doing.

My 8yo daughter has loved the Harry Potter Lego sets for a few years. The Lego Friends ones are kinda meh, the TV show cash in was transparent. The Superhero Girls and Disney ones are decent enough.

You don't want Lego dong on your search history for when you get caught up in an investigation Doc. that's all I can say.

Wouldn't denying a child the opportunity to make her own choices make one a bad parent? Is there some benefit to steering female children to traditionally "male" toys?

You do know that if you throw a bunch of dolls and a bunch of toy trucks into a gorilla pen, the females overwhelmingly choose to play with the dolls while the males choose the trucks, right? All this without the evil influence of Patriarchal Gorilla Evangelical Christians.

If my kid has his choice he would watch other kids play minecraft all day. That doesn't mean it's a good idea to let him choose that.

I have no doubt that is true. Boys and girls do play differently. That doesn't mean you don't encourage them to use creative toys like legos even if they'd rather play with a truck or a doll.
