Yes.

I never really am concerned about a one year contract. If the player goes teets up, you can eat that money and that is a worst case scenario.

I think there is a lot of flexibility with him to either stay or get traded. Personally, I'd pick it up and immediately see what the market is like. If not, I think he will adjust to that 8th inning role.

It's less who do you add than how do you solve for your star players sucking in the playoffs? I think they need to look at the analytics department, and have a better plan to attack the other pitcher. I don't see adding a right fielder as a silver bullet when the biggest hits of the series came from guys playing right field.

If you're looking at analytics being the problem, I dont think that's gonna get better under LaRussa.

LaRussa was using computer generated analytics in the 80s. I don’t think he’s against using the analytics team. I just don’t know what they can do if the guys they have don’t perform.

Absurd spending 30 million on 2 bullpen guys. The only reason to do that is to save face on the Cub trade. Nobody is going to trade for a 16 million dollar reliever with Kimbrel's recent track record

His track record as a closer is HOF worthy.

He will be traded as a closer, not as a setup guy.

I think the best you can hope for Kimbrel is some very slight salary relief, and maybe an AA arm. That was not a good trade for the Sox.

Steve Stone’s off season assessment is worth a listen. He really goes in on some guys. Calls out Tim Anderson for lazy defense, and even suggests changing positions. Says Grandal can’t be the full time catcher the way he plays defense. Crazy honesty from a team broadcaster.

Agreed. I'm not sure why MANY believe that we need perfection at every position. Pick up a Maldonado like catcher near the end of their career to give Grandal a breather from behind the plate.

Grandal should not be behind the plate. DH is fine but he hurts them too badly on defense.

Tim Anderson is one of the only guys who brings his bat to the playoffs, I'm not going to beat him up for not playing gold glove defense.

It wasn't really beating up on him.

It was saying he can improve things, and be more consistent.

You're going to need Abreu to spend more time there because Father Time is about to knock.

I think it has already started.

He went through spells this year where he couldn't get around on fastballs.

Maldanado is available but I bet he stays with the astros

maybe Yan Gomes

Maldonado hit a buck seventy this year with a .500 OPS. At that point, you might as well stick with Collins/Zavala and spend that money elsewhere.

From where Timmay was at to where he is now, its been a damn impressive leap forward. If this is where he remains defensively, its fine. Sure you would like him to improve, but he's gone from liability to slightly above average at SS. And his bat is almost second to none at his position. I think its been the most impressive turnaround I have seen with a Sox player since Jose Contreras from '04 to late '05 and into '06.

To Nas' point, Robert has also killed it in the playoffs. He was one of the only guys who hit in Oakland last year.

Evan Marshall to have Tommy John surgery, likely to miss all of the upcoming season.

Good think the Sox decided to have him rehab and rot for 3+ months rather than get the surgery over the summer so he could be in the bullpen at some point in 2022.

I agree, but he wasnt good before the injury in 2021. They did fuck him over, since they won't tender him this year.

I always thought the Kimbrel trade was basically an insurance policy against Hendricks getting hurt, given the earlier trade deadline. Look at the various playoff teams having their bullpens falling apart. Granted the White Sox weren't competitive against Houston, but if Hendricks had gotten hurt in August it would have been much more dicey to even get to the playoffs.

Seattle, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and maybe St. Louis would be good fits for Kimbrel. All four teams are in a position where they won't want to have to give a FA Kimbrel a 2-year deal, and will be willing to give up a prospect or two to save the money.

So it looks like fuckin Guillen is interviewin' for the Padres job

I dont know if his shit will fly out there, but maybe it will.

He's always hid in Reinsdorf's cocoon on the Southside and been able to getaway with his funny shit

I would miss him for sure though if he left. It's been nice havin' him on the postgame shows and shit.

-LaRussa and coaching staff back for 2022.

-Allen Thomas and the rest of the strength, conditioning, and training staff will not be brought back or will be overhauled.

-Michael Kopech moving to starting roation.

-Jimmy Cordero, Jace Fry, Brian Goodwin, and Evan Marshall outrighted to Charlotte which essentially makes them free agents.

-Option on Cesar Hernandez to be declined.
