She deleted her account two weeks ago, but the deletion isn't official until 30 days after. She can talk all day about how she's so happy being Twitter-free, but I would bet my house she will re-activate before the deadline. No way does she walk away from her 37k followers, even if they are mostly bots.
It is odd that she hasn't written an article for her job for a few weeks...maybe something is going on with that. And maybe that's why she deleted her Twitter...so she wouldn't have to show that she is no longer "Senior Editor/Writer" anymore. But who knows.
I think Entercom took notice of her accusations and phoned someone in leadership at Deadspin.
Roll your eyes all you want, but after having at least 2 articles per week, she is now a few days shy of not having a by-line in a month and that lined up around the time of her video about the porn at 670. In this era where such accusations can weight heavily on a company and its employees, I can't imagine Entercom would just let it slide and not raise issue with it.
Also explains the Twitter deletion. A lot easier to play victim and say trolls made you do it than stay on and have to acknowledge the fact she may very well no longer work at Deadspin
This theory seems logical, however given the facts ot might be a little off-base. From what I saw of her podcast appearance (just the small clip), she referred to "working in sports radio" when she made the allegation about porn, which is a little bit more vague than "when I was working at WSCR". Of course the obvious "I am not a lawyer" caveats apply here, but it doesn't seem like July's statements on their face really impugn Entercom or WSCR, given that she didn't name the station, time the events took place, who was supposedly viewing the good stuff, or even whether the event happened during the time Entercom came to own WSCR.
I'm reminded of the time Bernstein got all up on his high horse about then Nationals manager Dusty Baker being liable for defaming a hotel chain because Dusty, in comments to the media, had said something like (without naming or identifying the hotel in any way) "our hotel rooms were moldy and maybe somebody got sick", and Dan made the defamation case stick by saying "well we know where they're staying in the city...." And while I'm not a lawyer, I think that it may well be impossible to defame someone because of someone else's deductive reasoning abilities, or at least it would be pretty hard.
You may very well be right in theory, that July has become so much of a headache and embarrassment that even Deadspin has had enough, and this is the fateful straw, but I just don't see much of a way a corporate lawyer representing Entercom spends time on July's comments.
It appears to me more likely that while she was getting hammered by pretty much everyone, when she saw the likes of former ally Chris Rongey taking her to task, she saw the handwriting on the wall and pulled the handle on the ejector seat to get a little breathing room.
