Understood. I'd rather find a local Jimmy John's for delivery, which is still not a great sandwich but better than Subway. Point taken, though.

I'm going to try the Mexican place again. It has good reviews.

You can't order the tacos Mexican-style online for pickup so I guess I will be forced to interact with humans to get a steak taco.

Little better than a good steak taco.

I got another opinion from someone on the place before I went so I tried it.

It was quite good. Must have just had a bad day back before.

Much better than Subway.

I could do without all the high school kids swarming the area for lunch though. Meddling kids.

Never heard of Rammy's, gonna have to check that out. What's good there?

I usually get the ultimate italian beef...beef and provolone on garlic bread with pesto spread.

Agreed. The chipotle chicken is good also and the tuna salad sandwich. They use quality ingredients.

I think I'll be heading to Subway again. Why? I don't know. I'm going to be right there and it is convenient.

you must really hate yourself to go to Subway not once, but twice in a decade let alone a single week.

There's a Mexican place I might go to instead but last time I was there it was pretty bad.

Subway has a floor that I can accept gastronomically. I understand the bargain I'm making with myself when I enter.

I'm sure there is more than just a mexican place and Subway for your choices.

Whereabouts is your office again?

I hope you're not talking about Monica's.

No. I don't think even you would have stories about this particular area.

Well, damn it, I stand corrected. That is the area. But it isn't Monica's. Never had that.

What about Big Ange's Eateryin Arlington Heights. Never been, but looks really good on Yelp.

No, but that was the other recommendation. She said Monica's wasn't good.

I'd put her cultural bona fides on Mexican food above even yours.

I went to Las Posadas. I mean I wouldn't tell someone to seek it out but it was a solid steak taco with onions and cilantro.

You're not tough enough to walk the streets of Skokie Boulevard and Dundee Road. I suggest you stay in your lane.

Is Las Posadas the place on Dundee and BG Road?

I used to work around the corner from there and that was my favorite thing to eat for lunch (along with the original Heaven on Seven).

I'd get that as often as I could. Used to work at 120 S. LaSalle so I was real close if Degenerate Dave was warming up.

Spicy chicken was great. I like to throw some sweet & sour on it to cut the spicy a little. I didn't even think they were still open.

Long time ago, my wife got a full catering tin of it for my birthday party when we still lived in the city.

Taking me back.

Holy shit I worked across the street from you. Although I only ate at Silk Road once or twice in 15 years. I usually worked 10-6:30 or 5:30-3 to avoid Stevenson traffic so I rarely ate lunch at a typical time.

No lunch today, as I had a midday flight.

I always get a kick out of watching The Dark Knight.

Hey, that’s where I bought my orange juice!!!!

It’s also in The Untouchables when they first go in to bust a real operation.

“Hey, this isn’t right! This is no good!”

And so did I in the early nineties. Heaven on Seven was always the best option. Unless the place on the west side of LaSalle a block south wasn't packed.

My lunch yesterday and today has been baked Costco chicken thighs with a marinade centered around Nando's medium garlic peri-peri sauce and olive oil, with rice yesterday and farmers market sweet peppers today.

Had a gyro and fries from Dengeo's on Dundee today. Hit the spot.

There's a new Dengio's on Willow Road by The Glen. Was very happy to stumble on that. Chicken Philly FTW.

Another thumbs up for Dengeos. Had the gyro and roasted veggies and chicken noodle soup instead of fries.

Going to make it back a few times over the next couple months. I have a project pretty close by.

We catered in Christmas lunch today form Kasia's: ham, breaded chicken cutlets, veal meatballs, lots of pierogi, mashed potatoes, vegetables and salad.

They don't have good dessert and I didn't have time to get a pie but I did give everyone 2 lb boxes of The Fudge Pot.

Chicken sandwich challenge today.

Popeyes

VS

Ch'King
Ch'King Spicy
Wendy's Popper

Popeyes has better sauce and bun and retains its title...The BK entries were both solid. The Popper is pretty good, but it is different. It has bacon and gets its spice from sliced jalapeno and a spicy cheese sauce.
