one thing... when the bears suck, fans still go to bars and watch the games.

once rodgers is gone, and green bay are the trash cans they look like, packer fans will be like 'who? i have to go hiking today, i dont watch football'

That is false, when I first started coming up here in 91, the Packers were terrible. Bars were still full of people watching the Packers games.

Growing up in Arkansas, didn't really have an NFL team I was a big fan of. I was born in 72 and my brother was a Cowboys fan, so just to piss him off, I became a Steelers fan. I first came up here in 91 and the next year went to Lambeau Field for the first time and it was love at first sight. And that's the rest of the story.

Are you still a fan of the Steelers? That had to have been a weird Super Bowl for you.

No, that was a short lived thing when I was a petulant little shit. Now I am older petulant big shit that has taken my angst to the Bears.

One thing you can count on throughout Wisconsin is for bars to be full in good and bad times.

The amount of bars is remarkable.

It seems like every block has one in the big cities. You drive through the small cities and often see two right across the street from each other and wonder how they have enough patronage to cover both.

I think Chicago was like that before Daley II made a concerted effort to reduce the number of liquor licenses, often eliminating the beloved corner bar in neighborhoods

He is not getting nearly enough credit for getting the virus at the optimal time to ensure that he is one of the few players in the NFL to not have to take a test until the 2 week break before the superbowl.

Disappointing would be rooting for the Bears for the last decade (or 35 years).

Ill take the two rings and being in it every year. I was a Sox fan from 2008-2020 - no thanks

Yeah, its tough convincing myself watching HOF QB play my whole life and seeing two SB wins is better than watching Cade McNown, Marc Trestman, Matt Nagy, etc

Why is it that when faced with disappointment people feel the need to lash out against others so fiercely?

Thats lashing out fiercely? Your skin has thinned quite a bit over the years. This is just a GB fan and a Bears fan discussing their respective teams.

I’m sorry I missed Aaron’s hypothetical 2nd SB ring.

Almost makes me feel bad that his family hates him, which nobody talks about.

It was more an Aaron Rodgers joke so I’m not sure where you’re getting that second ring, but his family hates him and I love non sequitors.

I don’t but Sofia Vergara is fairly attractive.

There is a certain amount of emotional and intellectual dishonesty at work in the collective psyche of Packer fans on this board.

Most Bears fans have no problem admitting that the mid-80s Bears, despite their savage greatness, were a disappointment. We were promised a dynasty but ultimately only received one fabulous season and a few other very good ones. That's...disappointing.

To say that the Packers haven't also been disappointing over the past 30 years--a period in which they were first led by a top-10 all-time QB and then a top-2 all-time QB but only claimed two total Super Bowls--is patently ridiculous. For starters, everybody knows they should've beaten Denver in that second Super Bowl, and the NFC championship game collapse against Seattle in 2014 was a meltdown of epic proportions. There are plenty of other examples of their disappointing play, of course, but most of the Packers fans around here will never admit it. Maybe the wounds are still too raw for them. From that perspective, all of their bluster here becomes amusing since it is obviously motivated more by insecurity than it is by confidence. Packer fans try to project the image that they're King Mufasa, but in reality they're much closer to being the Cowardly Lion. They are lying to themselves and therefore must also lie to us.

I will never agree with that horseshit about the bears being underacheivers in the 80s. The NFC was loaded, Skins, Giants and Niners all had a better coach and QB. It is hard as hell to win a SB.

Bears would have easily won another Super Bowl in 86 if McMahon didn't get hurt. That's not disappointing? OK, I guess Packers fans aren't the only ones lying to themselves.

I cant agree, that year the giants were tough as hell, they had a better offense than us and better coach, QB and probably a better defense..they gave up 3 points total in the 2 playoff games before kicking the crap out of denver in the SB.
