My roommate got drunk there one night and ripped a sign off the wall and hung it in our apartment.

My husband had a roommate that was a thief. They had a sign that said beware of pick pockets and loose women.

When I went to school at University of Memphis I went through a phase where I tore down and took street signs. I still have a couple in my garage. Probably more of a high school thing to do but I didn’t have signs in my neighborhood

 I have to say TBone that if you told me to pick the guy on this board who would steal street signs you would be a name I would never get to

You can include me in the sign stealing crew. Oddly enough I only kept one.

I stole the Governor's Hometown Award sign when I was about 19.

We were in a 4-door hatchback. We also stole a street barricade for some reason with a flashing yellow strobe light.

The sign didn't fit in the back (it was too big and heavy to even hang on a wall) so the hatch was open and we were driving through a very small town in a hatchback with the hatch open, a huge sign hanging out the back, and flashing yellow strobe light in the car.

We didn't get caught.

ever steal street signs while driving a recently hotwired 1970's era Chevy Impala? Fucker had manual brakes and no power steering--like as a feature, not that they didn't work right then, car never had it, i'm guessing; which shouldn't have been legal on a 454 V-8 or whatever those beasts had back then. Thing was already old enough to drive itself when we encountered it and decided it'd be the perfect ride to drive into the burbs to pick up cases of beer from suburban grocery stores for our senior trip the next morning. Fit 6 people, no problem. One driver, 5 passengers grab 2 cases each and then stride quickly, purposefully (don't run, draws attention) through the check outs and into the waiting getaway Impala. Good times. We'd have paid for the beer if they would have let us, but we were too young to buy beer. Of course we immediately started drinking our pilfered Busch Light (no idea why they didn't grab some better brew); and eventually when that many teenagers are cruising around drunk together, street signs aren't safe.

It’s fun to poke fun at ASU but they have so much bloody money and resources, particularly in their business/engineering/journalism programs. Lots of technology companies are moving here and making AZ their home. Not a bad place for parents to come visit either.

I first learned about Arizona/Arizona State browsing one of those 'Girls of Pac Ten' issues of Playboy. It may as well have been 'Mostly Girls from ASU/Arizona with a few from USC/UCLA". They'd throw in a scary Oregon or crunchy granola Washington chick wearing a flannel shirt and boots for perspective.

My dorm room had 6 flashing strobe lights from a construction zone and a barricade at one point. I was not the responsible party. Some bastard stole our tractor crossing sign… might of been the road commissioner.
