Aikmin broke his hand that year and missed five or six games. They also had Jimmy Johnson for the Long Haul. Then with the Herschel Walker trade, they ended up drafting Emmitt Smith.

Herbert is still raw, but he's the best runner on the team. I'm looking forward to seeing how good he'll be when he understands the game and his quarterback becomes a passing threat.

You spent 2 1st round picks on him. He needs to be fucking ready. You don't burn 2 years worth of top picks on a project. A late 1st round pick can be "developed". When you pay the price Pace did you should start on Day 1 and not suck.

There are really only two ways to win in today’s NFL. You either have an all time great QB who can overcome other weaknesses on the team, or a dynamic rookie like Russell Wilson who is cheap and you can spend a lot on the rest of the team.

The real kick in the ass for Bears fans should be that Dalton was cheap, effective and they came up with a scheme where he could dink and dunk while they ran the ball effectively down the field. Add a 1st round corner instead of fields and roll with that and this is an easy playoff team with future cap flexibility and a 1st rd pick next year. The Defense played good enough to win with the rifle. I'm not sure they give a shit now like they did so they may fall off but drafting Fields and altering the landscape of the organization for the next 4 years was not wise.

That’s ridiculous. Dalton is terrible and they weren’t going anywhere with him. The Bears needed a top 10 QB and took a shot with Fields. It’s too early to tell if they were right and it’s certainly possible that they weren’t, but the strategy was good and Dalton was never the correct answer.
