Gala or Fuji are the best for straight up eating.

I like fuji and pink lady. Sometimes Granny Smiths.

i like pink lady but the texture is a bit 'hard'

I like the sour ones for most part. Honey crisp are okay as are Fuji. I don’t like gala much at all. We have some old varieties in a gone orchard. That are good but ugly and a little sensitive to handling. You can see why they got phased out commercially.
