This could fit in the complain thread as well: our pay week starts on Monday and ends Sunday. We get paid for two week periods (bi-weekly), on Fridays. The pay explanations are posted on the company HR page onTuesday nights, but direct deposits happen on Friday.
Corporate just switched to a new overlord program that handles work orders, pay, purchase orders, inventory, everything. We all have to enter our time for a two week period by Thursday of the week the pay period ends, i.e Mine has to be approved by my manager by noon the 28th with the pay period ending the 31st, and pay deposited 11/5. But, due to my rotating schedule, I might not have to be at work until 530pm on the 28th, so he demands I have it in the program before we leave the week before. So, I may have to enter my time by the 20th for this pay period. Of course, on the 20th, I cannot know if OT will be requested before the 31st, so IF I get to work extra, I have to have a supervisor unapprove my time sheet, change it, then get a supervisor to reprove it.
And then we get to the work orders that we charge our time to- some pay periods it could be as many as eight different time codes to log hours against. OH yeah, the new overlord program does track our time, but it is incapable of tracking our time for the Federal Working Hour limitations rules we have to follow. Soooo, I still have to enter all my time worked into the old payroll program as well as the new program. At least the old program allows me to fill out a year or more in advance, the new program makes me wait until the current period actually starts enter time into that period. A real pain if you take an extended vacation. We often joke that there should be a special pay code for the time we spend putting in our pay codes.
It sounds like a plot for an episode ofthe Office
