In this particular scenario, it absolutely appears this was the case.
I suggest you watch "The Drumhead" episode of Star Trek TNG. Pay particular attention to the scene where Picard and Worf are having a discussion in the observation lounge.
I suggest you admit that RFDC and I and correct, and that we shouldn't waste our time watching nerd shows to try and understand some pedantic point you're trying to make.

You are advocating for taking a fundamental right guaranteed by our constitution and turning its very use against the person/entity using it, I refuse to do that.

so if your neighbor had their amazon package stolen. and your doorbell camera got a view of the offender. you arent turning that video over without a subpoena?

Or, you are OK with bad people using their constitutional rights? that's fine, but you have to understand it doesnt look good and it is more than fair to criticize them for covering up.

Clearly the scouting on him was way off because damn was he soft.

This wasn't some 5th rounder selected from a podunk USHL team

https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdi ... ?pid=90922

He had high PIM while putting up points in the WHL, the stats show he only played eight games with Rockford in 2009-2010. You're correct, he was a first rounder from a 100,000 person town in BC. But, he was someone who was just beginning his journey and looking at the numbers a bit of a cement-head. 20 years old and up with the big team, you think he understood he was getting Buff or Brouwer's spot? Come on, you're smarter than this.

It seems like every blog understood he'd have a big opportunity to play in Chicago because we all knew it was win in 2010 or there won't be a chance for a few years because key pieces were going to be gone. Had he lived up to potential, he would've been playing the Bryan Bickell or Brandon Saad role in 2013. He had Top 6 written all over him when drafted.

Exactly. It's a constitutional right, not an obligation. They could have done the right thing without giving up their rights.

If this question was anonymously polled here, 80% of the posters would make the same deal for a dynasty. The other 20% are lying

Sure it's a Faustian bargain, but aren't most?

I would be in the 20%. I already said that if this happened with the Sox, who are far and away my favorite team, I would be crushed.

I don't make that deal with the Sox merely because I have 2005. If I didn't have 2005, I'm making that deal. I don't have 1985 with the Bears as I was born after that.

I don't make that deal about anything sports related. And if I ever considered it, I'd consider myself a fanatic, not a fan.

I mean Deshaun Watson might be a rapist, but if him being our QB won us a Super Bowl, fuck it I'm in. Pittsburgh knows how that deal works and they don't regret it.

I mean Watson would be our QB if our GM wasn't an idiot

It's just some professional sports team that doesn't give a shit about me personally. That's why I still play sports, I can feel good about my own team's and my own accomplishments and I'm not desperate to cheer for a bunch of dirtbags because I completely lack perspective.

I think having somebody on the team who has been accused or convicted is a lot different than the team themselves covering up such egregious acts. It's two completely different situations.

And maybe I'm wrong, but covering up for a pervert who was sexually assaulting a guy in my amoral organization and at my facility is a bit different than a goof who was taking liberties with "masseuses" (ahem) in his private life.

I need to correct a fact here. The assault happened at Aldrich's apartment, not a team facility. Which begs the question why Beach went there in the first place.

Hawks execs probably laughed that a big 20 year old grown man athlete was molested by a 5' 5' little runt. A punch in the mouth would have halted his advances. If the Hawks immediately followed protocol, and notified authorities it's out of their hands. Doing the right thing wouldn't have hurt their Cup drives. I can't believe the Wirtz's were in the dark about this.
