Haha, glad Dave Grohl was around to get them over the hump, I'm sure he really did a lot for Rush awareness

Have you ever heard a punk rock song that wasn't complaining about something?

you could say that about almost any song. especially love songs.

but whining specifically...is very emo.

Green Day is fine, but it's not really punk. I kind of get the label "whiner rock" but that title is reserved for Smashing Pumpkins.

Look....not everyone gets to be as awesome as Bad Religion for punk. You're gonna have some posers out there. I think the worst I heard was Good Charlotte....my God were they awful.

That was always my view too until I saw them at the Aragon. If I remember correctly a lot of board members were at that show too. I wouldn't say I'm a big fan. A girlfriend won the tickets and gave them to me. But it was a great show. And I would definitely call them punk rock, or say they have a punk rock ethic at a minimum.

Travis Barker is giving him a run for his money. There hasn't been an awards show that either of those assholes woudn't attend in the last 5 years. He doesn't have Grohl's hustle down yet but he is getting close. He is an excellent drummer but when you have a 3 chord pop punk song and need to put the spotlight on yourself while you play some elaborate hip hop beat to it you might be an attention whore. I could have written that before his over documented PDA fest with one of teh sister whores. That is just icing on the cake.

they're definitely in the spirit of punk. the early stuff like "1,039" and "kerplunk" has a punk feel to it. certainly by the time of "warning" they were branching off into something else.

"dookie" is a punk album. if you deny that, then you gotta deny the ramones too.
