They should now be in full rebuild mode, reinventing the team around Fields with offense as its character. New coach, different focus on money and draft investment.

This will not be a short term fix but at least long term is only three years in the NFL. If they hit in this past draft like they think they hit, the cornerstones are present and just need time to develop.

Agreed. He loves Mustipher but the guy looks like a career fringe backup to me. Olin coaches him and he happens to fit Olin's player profile of undersized and hard nosed.

Tabor is already in place as interim. I think now is a perfect time to fire Nagy and start the search. They can now start on line interview starting in Week 16.

Trading up in the 2nd round for prospects that need major back surgery?

I would hope they are smarter than that. I know that may be a stupid thing to hope for, but they have to be realistic. They have already lost to 4 NFC teams. The Bears would basically have to win out to have a chance at the playoffs. This year is no longer about winning games, its about developing Fields. Maybe that was the case all along but with 5 loses already, 4 of those being in conference, that has to be the reality at Halas Hall as well.

If they do not beat the Lions on Thanksgiving, we could easily be looking at an 8-9 game losing streak.

Pace should have been on the phone with all of his past co-workers in Nawlins last night letting them know Dalton and/or Foles would be available for pennies on the dollar.

I agree on this no longer being about winning games. For Pace and Nagy, however, it's all about winning games so they can be sure they're on the team for next year. I can see them mortgaging more of the future for short-term gain this year.

Fields is starting because Pace and Nagy know this isn't a make or break year. Dalton still gives this team the best chance to win. It's a lot closer than it was in Week 3 though.

If this isn't a make or break year, then Fields should have been practicing exclusively with the first team offense throughout training camp and starting from the first game.

Nagy claims that he had an elaborate development plan established for Fields, but I think we can all see that this is simply not the case. Having Fields sit for a year, run the scout team, and hoping for accelerated improvement in the offseason do not constitute a development plan. They are the confused fumblings of the living embodiment of the Peter Principle.

There are only two examples of infinity: The universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the universe.

Winston is done for the year and the Saints will need some sort of viable backup. If they don't make a trade within the next 28 hours or so, they are looking at signing Cam Newton or somebody else off the scrap heap. They would be wise to speak with Pace and offer a late round pick for either guy.
