While the White Sox deal with Mike Mussina tonight in the Bronx for the Southsiders' last ever game at Yankee Stadium, the Twins deal with James Shields & the Rays in St. Petersburg in the first of 4...

Thornton can be trusted. He gets it done more than he fails. You still have to go to Dotel in the playoffs. He still has the strike out ability.

Linebrink has lost 4 or 5 MPH off his fastball and it's straight. Nothing you can do. Just hope the hitter doesn't square it up or lines it to somebody.

Ya know, come the playoffs, I would trust Richard in the 6th or 7th. He could get a batter or two. Maybe even 2 innings if you have to go to him early.

Hopefully we have big leads or the starters can go 8 innings.

Ozzie will bring Jenks in the 8th during the playoffs if he has to.

The bullpen really is a mess. It will probably kill us in the playoffs. I hope everything just clicks for the pen in the playoffs. But it doesn't work that way. If they're bad going in they'll probably be bad during. 4 straight complete games, like the 2005 ALCS, probably won't happen again. It's likely that never happens in the playoffs again. Hell, it won't happen in the regular season for a team either.

Is Mike Macdougal eligible for the post-season roster given that he wasn't called up until September 1st (or maybe a day or two later)?

Saying that, the White Sox don't have a chance (should they win the division) in the playoffs without the starters going 7 IP. Thorton and Jenks are the only two guys that I trust right now. You're right about Dotel - he's hit or miss, but he will be needed because he a strikeout pitcher.

BD, I'll be very interested to see what the White Sox playoff roster does indeed look like if they hold off the Twins to win the American League Central. That could be a subject for a future topic. With Joe Crede likely out with lingering back problems, I'll be very interested to see who will be the fifth infielder on this roster with Crede not available. Chris Getz broke his wrist, while Joshua Fields could be looking at surgery after the season, and I've seen very little of Jason Bourgeois other than pinch running late in games. I'll also be interested to see who will be in the bullpen. I've seen enough of Boone Logan, Mike MacDougal has been MacTrouble everytime he's been called upon, and Horacio Ramirez has been a bust since he came here in a waiver trade with the Kansas City Royals.

I do:

2005 = Good.

2008 = Bad.

BD- Waserman, Logan, MacDougal, Broadway, Fields, Paul Phillips, Bourgeious, Getz, Owens would not be eligible for the playoff roster. Clayton Richard, Crede, and Wise all are.

Your playoff bullpen would (likely) be: Linebrink, Jenks, Dotel, Thornton, Carasco, Russell, Ramirez, and probably Clayton Richard

You've got to be kidding me about Horacio Ramirez being on the playoff roster, should the White Sox get there, and I don't think Joe Crede will be available with the nagging back problem. The way the Sox & Twins are pitching down the stretch, whoever wins the A.L. Central will be out in Round 1. I'll go one step further. If Ron Gardenhire was managing anywhere other than Minnesota, he'd be on the hot seat given what the Twins have NOT done come postseason play.

I'm not sure why the Sox can't beat the fucking Yankees? These fuckers own the White Sox and now is just not the time to play like shit.

These guys are going nowhere. What a fucking tease

Ozzie has literally waved the white flag on this one. Jason Bourgeois, wearing Pablo Ozuna's old #38, now plays at second in this 9-1 train wreck in the bottom 6th, and Juan Uribe at shortstop among many changes...By the way, the Rays lead the Twins 8-6 in the bottom 7th at Tropicana Field...

If Ozzie think the Sox are going to scuffle into the playoffs playing like this and win more than 1 game he is on fucking drugs.

These dudes will get owned by the Rays in the playoffs.

Speaking of the Rays, they lead 8-6 in the bottom 8th as Babe, I mean Evan Longoria has 3 homers tonight for Tampa Bay vs. the slumping Twins. If there's any silver lining in this, it's that Minnesota can't pick up any ground, and you can forget about the A.L. Wildcard coming out of this division...The magic number (or should I say tragic?) would drop to 8 if the Rays hang on in front of nobody at "The Trop"...

With 5 runs in the 9th, the Twins win.

The lead drops to a game and a half for the White Sox as they head to Kansas City, who won their 7th in a row today with a 12-0 spanking of the Mariners. Mark Buehrle starts the series tomorrow night at Kauffman, and here's hoping he forgets his last visit to Kansas City when it was hot enough to fry an egg on someone's head, and I believe Kenny Albert & Leo Mazzone had a front row seat for the FOX Sports' MLB broadcast...
