Yes

Depends on the location and size of the tear

as crest said....it varies.
Torn meniscus means they are just going to cut around the tear. You'll limp for a few days, but will be able to walk.

Take the Physical Therapy very seriously and you'll be fine.

Congrats, though....scope is just a band-aid and you just ensured you will get a knee replacement some time in your down the road

Upon further review apparently they are going to remove the meniscus rather than repair it.

No need for removal. Just have your chiropractor adjust your knee. It will be fine.

When I had mine done about 17 years ago, I was up playing hoops within 6 weeks. I was walking same day...and fully functional within 3 weeks.

Hard for me to gauge on meniscus only, as I had shredded ACL to go with the torn meniscus.

Pretty common, though. I've known many who have gone through it. Those that do what their PT tell the recover. Those that don't....have problems.

Do not let them do that unless absolutely necessary.

You'll be staring at a knee replacement in no time.

Meniscus surgery is removal. They cut out all the loose stuff that keeps binding up causing pain and inflammation. Full removal sounds crazy. Once they start cutting shit out, your knee will always feel a little loose...because parts are missing.

fuck surgery. id rather suffer and wait longer to heal than go through that shit. my hip flexer, or whatever the fuck i strained is going on 6 weeks. but guess what, its nearly fully healed. im almost dunking again. it still hurts when i stoop down to pick up the ball... and i have foot strain from not running/walking properly for weeks... but no doctor, no good advice from csfmb,... just a daily regiment of ib profin and moderate exercise. it actually would probably healed faster if i just stayed couch ridden, but fuck that. i didnt get out of shape, and now that im almost healed i am doing great. i think about one more week i will have full mobility, full recovery.

I tore the meniscus in my right knee in October of 2019 and had surgery to clean it up that December. I was able to walk upstairs when I got home after surgery and the next day my knee felt about as good as could be expected considering I had surgery the day before. What was worse than the surgery was the nausea the resulted from the anesthesia. They asked me pre-surgery if I needed anything for nausea that may be caused by the anesthesia and I very foolishly said "No." That knocked me on my ass that evening and I occasionally felt a tad nauseated for the next two days.

Do not take PT lightly and you will most likely be fit as a fiddle in short order.

I had a meniscus tear a little over 30 years ago. Maybe the science has advanced (and my memory might be hazy) but my decision was to either to remove the meniscus or they could basically patch it up. Removing the meniscus would mean much shorter rehab time but the possibility of arthritis at a much younger age. I decided on patching it up. I was in a splint/cast for 3 weeks and then an additional week on crutches. It was about 5 months before I could do run, twist or jump. I had physical therapy, like riding a stationary bike. The fear was I would tear the stitches.
