You looked absolutely appalled. It's okay, I get it, my husband gets the same look but we are actually married.

Well, then I apologize to you.

I thought I had hid it better.

You are not younger than me. You are at least dolphin/Reader/Noisy/Reason's age.

Is that in order of age? Without knowing them I’d go: dolphin / noisy / reader / Chaplin.

I doubt it.

It was hard to step anywhere. There were many bulky "former-CSFMB" men there taking up quite a bit of space.

I still don't know what it means. But I'm old.

My understanding is it means “straight people are bad”. I just assume anyone who uses cis unironically is a fucking idiot who doesn’t understand how they were born

And see one of my all time favorite characters remains Archie Bunker. Who never would've used that prefix.

His mother had a decidedly different reaction.

That might be a cool gift to receive...but not as a wedding gift. That seems really weird, tone-deaf.

I actually was shocked one time in high school Senior Foods class.

We had a double sink and a group of 4. We'd switch up jobs each time. Somebody was in charge of filling one side of the sink to soak all the dishes/pans.

My job that day was to clean so, let's just call him CARL, filled the sink and dishes. He also included the plugged-in hand-mixer.

As I reached in to the soapy water, it hurt. Felt like my finger had hit the end of a knife. I looked. Didn't see a knife so I stuck my whole hand in near to my elbow.

My arm started to get tingly like it was going numb and then I saw the cord coming up from the sink into the outlet. I threw my hand out and yelled FUCK!.

The teacher was startled...as were the other students. Young Dr. Ken was not known to be the type to randomly yell FUCK! in the middle of a class.

I was fine. The teacher insisted that I go to the nurse. I said I was fine. They made the nurse come up and look at me so I could tell her I was fine. And then someone else did the dishes and we all went home.

I didn't sue anybody.

As I sit in my COVID quarantine basement, I just discovered there is a version of If I Can Dream from the Elvis '68 Comeback Concert that he did in the black leather suit in the round.

Why was I never told of this?

I hold you all responsible.

It is an all-time great performance in the white suit in front of the huge ELVIS sign or the black leather.

Man I took a nasty shock a couple summers ago. Was working on a condenser and was reaching into the electrical compartment trying to get to a connection and basically my hand came into contact with L1 and L2. It was a hot day and I was sweaty and I put 240 volts right into my hand. I literally screamed YEAAAAAAAAAAAAA but I couldn't pull away for a couple seconds because my arm was paralyzed from the current. I ended up with a really nasty burn. I've got pictures.

So now no matter what you are doing you pull the disconnect to kill the power? Of all the live stuff I have worked on, 480 cord drops, panels, 277 ligthting, 240...... the worst hit I have ever taken came from grabbing a fucking residential doorbell transformer and having my hand over both terminals. Somehow that menards special electric fly swatter tennis racket hurts way worse than a 120 shot too.

In this case not possible. I was trying to get a compressor amp draw meaning it had to be running.

I was playing golf in ireland on one of those country courses adjacent to farms. I flew the green on a par 3 into a pasture with cows. The only thing separating the course from the pasture was one thin metal wire. I figured that was just a barrier that the cows would respect but people could easily get through so I grabbed the wire so I could get under it. I saw white for a couple of seconds as the electricity from the wire shot up my arm. The cows stood there looking at me and laughing inside.

Yeah.. I’ve been hit by a fencer. It doesn’t feel good but it’s usually from a short over too the ground or something else. Not sure I’ve grabbed a hot wire purposely and would suggest against it. Last time I managed to get nailed was when I was working on a gate. Still not sure what I hit but I felt it in my chest for a few hours.

Those single wires are usually pretty damn full of juice too being s purely psychological barrier vs a physical one.

My first contact with the fencer was as a yute, breaking ice from the open water tank. Dressed in my finest nylon, one-piece snowmobile suit, I bent at the waist to reach into the bottom of the tank, and moved my prodigious posterior into contact with the single line. Well grounded in the water, I took the brunt of the old International charger right in the cheek.

The worst hit was while working on a gate, as well. The lower gate hinge is near the lower hot wire, so I covered it up with some high voltage gloves recycled from work. I knelt next to the gate and let the brim of my sweaty hat come in contact with the middle hot wire. Straight shot around the circumference of my bald, sweaty melon. That one really hurt, even from a newer solid state charger a half mile away.

I once shorted across a mis-labeled 240V line at our old house, that ruined a nearly-new pair of Romex strippers and lit up the basement, but didn't actually get to my body. Fortunately, the real well pump breaker tripped.

Don't those lines kind of buzz and vibrate a bit?

That's what I remember if I needed to figure out if I could grab a wire or not. Haven't been around one in many years.
