Gotta give credit to the Packers organization. If they can trick those rubes into buying "stock" and exchanging what is essentially a worthless piece of paper for stadium upgrades, good for them.

Quote:
“The NFL Rules prohibit conduct by shareholders of NFL member clubs that is detrimental to the NFL, including, among other things, . . . publicly criticizing any NFL member club or its management, employees or coaches or any football official employed by the NFL,” the offering document explains. “If the Commissioner of the NFL (the ‘Commissioner’) decides that a shareholder of an NFL member club has been guilty of conduct detrimental to the welfare of the NFL then, among other things, the Commissioner has the authority to fine such shareholder up to $500,000 and/or require such shareholder to sell his or her stock.”

It would be fun (or maybe another word) to chronicle the efforts of the Commissioner to potentially fining me up to $500,000 for criticizing Roger Goodell or Jeff Pash or any specific owners or teams or officials or coaches or whatever. It also would be fun to see them try to collect the money.

On one hand, it’s a stupid boilerplate provision that will never actually be enforced. On the other hand, it’s in the document, and it’s apparently there for a reason.

It's no different than any of the other junk NFL teams sell. It's just something to put on the wall as a piece of memorabilia instead of a jersey to wear. The real idiots are people who shell out $300 for a Tribinsky jersey.

That's why you always opt for the cheap, high quality jersey.

That's almost as bad as selling PSL's for thousand of dollars each to renovate a crappy stadium into a slightly less crappy but still ridiculously undersized stadium, and then to have them become worthless when they move outside the city. Rubes inded.

Like any team in the league wouldn’t do it if they could and every fanbase wouldn’t happily fork over for it.

Paying money to get season tickets = Paying money to get a piece of paper that says you own a part of the team but you really don't own a piece of the team and have no rights as an owner. Got it.

THIS.
Packer shares are not much different than PSL's.
You want season tickets bad enough, you'll pay the PSL or some other fan will.

Similar in that it's a wasteful cash grab by the teams, but people volunteer to do it.

The PSL's grant you access to purchase season tickets, which you can can consume yourself or resell on the secondary market.

The Stocks, give you a worthless piece of paper, of which has no re-sale value.

So they are nothing alike.

Yeah I mean if you want to argue that right now, Bears tickets are also a worthless piece of paper I might not disagree. Season tickets do have value though. A Packers 'stock' certificate on display might as well be a sign that says, "I'm a dumbass"

Nosebleeds for Bears/Ravens this Sunday are still going for around $130 right now.

An aside, the last time the Ravens played at Soldier Field was today's date in 2013. It was also on this day that an F4 tornado ripped through Peoria and Washington, IL, and the Bears game had a nearly 2 hour weather delay.

Since there’s no good reason for PSLs to exist other than a chance for teams to bilk fans out of more money, they’re pretty similar. You can sell season tickets just fine without the extra PSL cost, but why leave money on the table.

I remember that game. Kim and I went up to the Dells in a monsoon...left a little after kickoff...got to watch the 2nd half in the bar up there. That was also the day I learned that Monk's gives out Jello shots every time the Packers score a TD.

It's still a quid pro quo transaction. You pay the PSL + cost of the ticket and you are returned with a product to consume or resell. The value of the product is up for debate. When the team is really good, I bet Season Ticket holders can turn a nice profit on those seats. There is ZERO value in the "Common Stock" the Packers sell. It's basically a donation to the team. No other team does it because no other fanbase is as fucking stupid as the Packer's fanbase.

Right KD, but you can't get season tickets without a PSL. Any rube who wants to piss away $300 can "own" 0.00000018% of the Packers.

We flew home from our honeymoon that afternoon. Had to fly around storms and go west over the Gulf to get back. 40-50mph wind gusts during landing, it was pretty intense.

Great, so we agree any way to soak your dumb fans, if they get something or not, is perfectly fine because every team does it.

Every team that isn't the Falcons also charges $6 for a bottle of water. And even then you get a bottle of water in return.

You literally get nothing in return for buying Packers "stock"

Again, if the Bears could sell worthless stock they would and Bears fans would jump at the chance. Sucks that the Packers can and we can’t.
