Martin Scorsese directing. Jonah Hill to play Jerry. Surviving members of the Dead are on as executive producers.

To say my expectations are high would be an understatement

You’re crazy. Jonah is great in everything he does. He completely makes the Wolf of Wall St movie.

Bonus points cuz some sjw deadheads are pissed they didn’t cast a hispanic person to play Jerry

Thets a bad take but i dont really need him to be funny in this role.

Hes a great actor. I trust him with this. You and Antioch seem to have a Ryan Pace level of talent evaluation when it comes to actors.

No accounting for taste I suppose.

Watch Moneyball and Wolf of Wall St and tell me hes not great in those roles.

By all accounts he takes his craft seriously, which is what you need for a role like this. I like the castingC think it will be interesting. And if its a disaster im obviously gonna say it was awesome anyway.

Putting aside that "SJW Deadheads" is a real bleach-and-ammonia combo, wasn't Jerry Garcia literally-Spain Spanish? Do they think he was a cholo or something?

No clue. Just have seen a lot of comments like that online when looking at articles about this

Jerry Garcia can only be played by a finger-lacking Latinx diabetic who's skagged out of his mind. Representation matters.

I mean he’s not great in either, so not sure how that supports your POV.

I’d argue his best role was the waiter in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and he had like 5 minutes of screen time.

He’s not cut out for a lead role unless it’s assumed the audience is so high they have no idea what they’re watching.

This is a good point. When the camera is rolling he is solid. Everything he does as Jonah Hill the person seems to flop. The tucked in Suns jersey and those horrendously placed tattoos.

Your first sentence of this post is all I needed to read. I cant really rip you since you clearly have no idea what you are watching when watching movies

I dont know much about him as a person. But if hes a typical weirdo hollywood leftie, it certainly explains Antioch and Spaulding’s atrocious opinions about his acting ability. They would need to cast James Woods as Jerry for approval in that case.

I mean Leo carries WOWS of course, but that movie is not nearly as funny or good without Jonah Hill.

Plus the budget on that movie was so tight Hill worked for $60,000 just to work with Scorsese and DiCaprio.

The guy is super talented.

I’m going to guess it def has less to do with his politics (which he’s not very vocal about), but probably far more to do with his proximity to Seth Rogen.

He's annoying as fuck in Lego batman, gross in 40 year old virgin, didn't like knocked up, icky in night at the museum, hated him in megamind, this is the end he was his unlikeable self really. Maybe I should watch moneybag or wolf of Wall Street but his movies kind of suck. He's fat gross and not really funny not much to work with there. I know nothing about him than that. You could take the biggest loser from here and give him Jonah Hill's career, seriously. Yuck.

I don't know if he has said much politically. He has some serious inferiority complexes though and is really weird, awkward and absolutely hung up on body image. He seemed much happier when he was huge.

I’m not even clear what he’s good at. He’s kind of funny sometimes? I guess?

He seems to just chew up a few minutes of screw time here & there. FF cites Moneyball - most memorable Jonah Hill scene I can recall was him telling Carlos Peña that he’d been traded.

Maybe I missed something.

As I hit send, I realized I forgot about the Jump Street movies.

He was objectively great in those. Solid Robin to Tatum’s Batman.

I mean I guess that’s better than the last two posters who don’t like his body?

You don’t think he was at all fairly memorable in WOWS?

I mean besides Margot of course.

To be fair, Ive never seen Lego batman and have no clue what it is, same with megamind, it never occurred to me to watch night at the museum or this is the end, and hes great in 40 year old virgin and knocked up but he seems to have also moved past those type of roles.

Yes the Jump Street movies are both great.

Great comedic duo.

Wish they would have made the MIB+Jump Street team up movie that was rumored for a bit.

Hes definitely good at being funny but hes also just good at acting. Playing the Paul DePodesta character showed range. He’s fucking phenomenal in Wolf of Wall St, JBills is very wrong about who carries that movie but hes on my side here so not trying to hit him with a stray.

Good acting is like the old supreme court porn thing, you know it when you see it. Hes really good.

I don't think so. He's lost weight and honestly I don't know how much it matters anyway, I lashed out. I'm fat.

He seems like an above it all jerk. He thinks he's really important and paraphrasing he could have made a lot of money doing comedies but he transitioned to being a serious actor...really okay you'll be right up there with all the legends.
