I don't think so. He's lost weight and honestly I don't know how much it matters anyway, I lashed out. I'm fat.

He seems like an above it all jerk. He thinks he's really important and paraphrasing he could have made a lot of money doing comedies but he transitioned to being a serious actor...really okay you'll be right up there with all the legends.

That’s fair.

I’ve seen the pretentiousness as well, but he’s in a comedic role in a movie called “Don’t Look Up” that comes out on Netflix next month.

Just so you know.

I’ll try to link the new trailer in the thread I started about it.

I mean besides Margot of course.

I think he’s fine. No better, no worse.

McConaughey was the better supporting part in that movie IMO. But big picture, didn’t love that movie outside from Oscar worthy Robbie scenes.

Agreed on many recent comedies.

And Spaulding isn't fat.

Edit: and I'm curious to see this movie.

I would argue he's a good actor. Granted I think he is super hot but even when not hot, he's good.

I mean that scene with McConaughey is iconic for sure.

There is a video on YouTube that plays the scene next to the script, and it’s really amazing how much improv both actors are doing.

That was absolutely peak MM too.

Dallas Buyers Club, Wolf of Wall Street, and True Detective all came out within like a month or 6 weeks of each other.

Still, he’s just not in the movie long enough for me to like his performance more than Hill.

It is close tho.

Not an above it thing. I watch a bunch of terrible NBA and NFL games regularly. I think a ton of movies that are thought of as “good bad movies” like Con Air are just genuinely awesome movies with no disclaimer needed. I just think most comedy movies suck. Always have

Likely murderer Alec Baldwin was in Glengarry for one scene? Yet he crushed it so hard it’s still the only memorable thing about that movie 30 years later.

Jonah Hill is just like Vince Vaughn.
Hes the same exact character in every movie. Identical.
Image

And at that one character, hes not great. Hes not becoming a character, hes not making you forget who the actor is during the movie like maybe Rami Malek did in Bohemian Rhapsody. He's not transforming into something else entirely like Heath Ledger as Joker. Hes not showing any depth of emotion. The nerdy kid in 40 year old Virgin is the same nerdy character in the jump street movies. Same as the nerdy character in Sarah Marshall. Same nerdy character (albeit for 2 hours in get him to the Greek

Hes a passable comedian, occasionally funny, never hilarious and a barely competent actor.

If you haven't seen "Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot", do yourself a favor and find a way to see it after the Bears lose today.
Hill is FANTASTIC in it.
