That Santos kick really did decide the game.

The Fields is the "messiah" talk on the Score will cool off despite Bernstein's and Parkins' blubbering. Their handpicked trending positive data will yeild to examining his basic QB stats. Like Les routinely says "he may end up being good, or maybe not".

They should lay back and just let it play out another year. Selfishly I want Fields to be a HOFer. But maybe he won’t be. Making a big deal on radio is dumb.

Happy Huntley credited the Bears defense for his success on that last drive:

Huntley was the last player off the field today, soaking up the Soldier Field W.

Looks like math was tricky for him. Going for 2 was the right call and it would have put them up by 6.

Why was it the right call? I'm missing something here. No matter what a field goal wasn't enough and a touchdown was a winner.

That makes the extra point on a possible touchdown important. A botched snap or blocked kick and it's going to overtime.

That happens, but it's really rare. Going for the xp means that if they do score a td a FG wins it instead of ties it.
The xp was the right call.

Take the L. You are wrong.
Darko is correct. They weren’t playing for a missed extra point, it was an analytics card showing the possibility of 2 field goals - which was highly unlikely at that point. The scenario that did play out seemed almost predictable.

Fields went to the hospital so they can check his ribs and spleen. He's definitely not playing Thursday.

After the Bears last TD, I think they could have used the roughing the passer penalty on the extra point or kick off. Since they threw (versus run) for the two-point conversion, might as well have taken 15 on the kick off to eliminate a good return. Kind of nit picky, but they shouldn’t have needed a time out to figure all of this out.

Huntley’s interview after the game made me feel better about the loss. Rather than the prima Donna BS you usually get from pro quarterbacks, this kid was just effusively happy and talked about how he wanted to go call his Mom and Dad. That was kind of cool.

You are absolutely correct on that 1st point and Romo implied that in real time as well.

It sounds like it might just be bruised ribs. Good news.
Bad news is that will probably keep him out of the game Thursday.
Good news is he gets two weeks to heal up.

Something better be broken or ruptured. Warriors don't leave games for bruised ribs. Even old man Drew Brees played with bruised ribs on one side and a punctured lung and broken rib on the other last year.

Bruised ribs don’t heal up in 2 weeks.

Neither does being a shitty qb.

This was the quintessential Nagy/Pace era loss.

Nothing from the offense for long periods, players not knowing where to line up, missing blocking assignments, odd play calls at critical moments, and poor roster construction biting them in the ass at critical moments. When you see Nagy flail around and make incredulous decisions in the HC role it shows you exactly why the offense looks so disjointed. The fact that he consistently tries to make cute play calls rather than run the ball twice on third and one shows he either does not believe in the team/roster he has created with Pace or that he is a complete and utter idiot.

Defensively you see the failures to draft, and even more spectacularly, the odd Pace method to overpaying guys that have a habit of taking plays/games off. While the media strokes Desai, his safeties don't know where to line up, and he was the secondary coach last year! He's a Nagy on the defensive side, players don't know where to line up leading to coverage breakdowns at critical moments. He will be a great quality control coach somewhere else next year.

Really no reason to be surprised when they lose games, this has been going on for years, George was the only one that thought is would be different this year and he and Ted own this year. Hopefully it leads to Virginia reassigning both of them and not giving them another shot at screwing up the HC/GM hire.

If Jackson starts yesterday they get blown out..what is the longest losing streak in bear history? If we lose to Detroit thursday we may see it.

I played football on Wrigley Football Field for the first 3 quarters so you can tell where my Bears interest level at this point.

All you have to do is watch NE execute their game plan game after game to know Nagy has no business developing a rookie QB. Mac Jones is one lucky MFer to be where he's at.

So spot on.

Guys not lined up properly at the snap on that crucial 3rd and 12 play.

A question I would love to know the answer to:

Did Nagy think they could make the playoffs with Dalton at QB? If so, did he make promises to George?

Or did he know this team was too old and it was going to be two-three years of rebuild and develop Fields fully in year 3, and that he had that level of leash with George?

At the end of the day, this is still on Pace. Until the Bears get a GM that can build a OL, this will continue to happen.

He probably faced a better opposing QB than Cousins.
