The Bears haven't won a game since the last time the Sox won a game.

They told him before the game he was fired and then had him still come in and coach a game?

That's the least believable sports story I've heard in a long time.

Sounds like something left on Terry's answering machine.

FWIW, apparently Bernstein gives it credence. Says Konkol is former Sun Times reporter and a Pulitzer prize winner.

Pfft. Pulitzer. Wake me when it's a Peabody.

This is a team that scheduled a press conference for a coach who had not yet agreed to a contract, so I guess anything is possible.

It is more likely the guy is banking on them firing Nagy after they lose Thursday. Like how Terry brought up the Lovie Smith extension before he was fired.

fire him and miss the chance for a Nagy lead team to come out unprepared yet again coming off extended rest?

The NFL now allows interviews during the last two weeks of the season so if they are going to make the move, it should be done done soon to line up coaches for the interviews.

That’s like telling the crazy morning radio dj he’s fired after the show. Here is an open mic.

I would have to assume Ryan Pace is chewing on Virginia's carpet if he's allowed to hire another coach.

The guy who broke the story is on Bernstein right now. Sounds... suspicious.

Yeah I been listening to it. Definitely strange. Will be interesting to see if he is right. No clue why you would tell him that then and not just wait until Friday

He saw that a bullshit tweet got Jordan Schultz some national publicity and he wanted in.

Depends on who told him I guess. Must have a team connection that isn't obvious since he doesn't cover them on a regular basis.

Regarding the "suspicious" comment; I got the feeling that he's not comfortable on the radio.

The Bears haven't won a game coming off of their bye week since Shea McClellin shattered Rodger's collarbone in GB. Trestman was still the coach

I get it, but Dick Jauron was told he was being let go after the 2003 season and said he would coach the final three games.

Pace should be launched too after the Lions game.

There’s no reason to keep him around either, and he’s done nothing to continue to earn more swings at this. Trading up to get Feilds is too little too late (and that’s if Justin even works out). Besides I can’t understand why in the world they’d be comfortable canning Nagy because he’s not good enough to do the job only to turn around and keep the guy who identified him as the guy who could. Pace has done nothing to prove he can identify talent in the draft or in a coaching search. Enough is enough with this asshole. He’s gotta go too.

Every team wanted Nagy. The Colts offered him the job, but Pace wouldn't allow him to leave. The Colts obviously got the better offensive guy in the end.

The Bears need to hire whoever the top Vice President of a franchise is and make them their head of football operations. That's a move they could make before the end of the season. They need to clean house, but don't have anyone trustworthy to make those decisions. Stop being a Mom and Pop franchise.

Could make for a more interesting game Thursday. Nagy could go full "mad scientist" and run all of his crazy plays. They won't work, but he can try.... Maybe never punt, just go for everything. I'm sure he has a secret WR screen that's perfect for 4th and 12.

Agreed. They need to stop this Mickey Mouse bullshit asap or Arlington Heights will eat them alive.

I'm imagining the conversation. "Hey Matt, your fired but can do us a solid and spend Thanksgiving in Detroit before you pack your crap up?"

Honestly, that is what I expect Detroit to do. Pull out all of the stops to get a win on nat'l TV. With them being winless, historically pretty bad on Thanksgiving over the last several years, and nobody expecting them to win, I suspect Dan Campbell to be hyping this game as their Super Bowl. He's already done some fakes and trick plays already. I absolutely expect to see at least two of the following; flea flicker, fake fg, fake punt, onside side, somebody other than the QB throwing a pass, a lineman catching a pass....maybe even more.
