The bigger problem is Pace, He is going to hire his 3rd HC and not one playoff win.

I'm kind of done with hiring OCs who got rich/famous by attaching themselves to a good QB. The only exception is if said OC developed that good QB. So, Greg Roman?

Supposedly, Ravens fans would drive Greg Roman to the airport to get him out of town...at least that is what a local Baltimore guy said on The Score last week...

After Saturday, Harbaugh should be available.

..but again, so has Pace. They cannot keep Pace and expect any meaningful change. This is all for nothing if Pace gets a 3rd coach.

Wasn't Nagy selling insurance before he was hired in KC?

The problem I have with Roman is I’m not sure how much we see is John Harbaugh Vs Roman.. Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in the NFL and had a SB win prior to Roman.

The Bears need to find a coach that understands all phases of the game and can get involved in planning from top to bottom. I’m not sure Fox was even that guy tbh as he seemed to shy away from offense.. tho it’s worth noting that he allegedly gave his input in the 2017 draft saying he liked Watson or Mahomes, so he did seem to understand enough

Young coaches that actually want to have a career.

The Bears consistently don't provide a system for a coach to succeed. They are too loyal to front office / GMs that seem to have a noncohesive agenda with the coaching staff.

If I was a young, up-and-coming coach with potential I wouldn't touch this job.

You can just get the John Foxs of the world or a young nobody.

They just keep hiring unqualified people

Not true . Wanny was THE hot prospect at the time and they got him . Lovie was also a hot assistant when they got him ( and was a good coach). Even Trestman was widely lauded as a next level think outside the box good hire .

Trestman was coaching in Canada at the time and a lot of people questioned that hire. It was ‘outside of the box’ for sure tho.

Fox was definitely a qualified hire, he even immediately brought in a really good coaching staff with Fangio and the rest of them. Problem is, they wouldn’t part right away with Cutler.. then after they did part ways with him they decided to go against Fox’s wishes and draft Mitch over Watson and Mahomes (who Fox liked)

Trade 3 first round picks to NE and make Bill Belichick your GM/coach.

Yep, that was one of the early warning signs with Pace. I'm convinced Pace doesn't get the job unless he agreed to keep Cutler per the bean counter's wishes.

They gave Cutler another extension if I recall correctly.

BR is correct here.

The Bears have hired the hottest guy three times over the last 25 years or so.

And Lovie was the only one of the three that worked out.

Jauron was a top flight coach as well.

They don't get credit for him, since McGinnis was their first pick.

Nagy was simply the Bears trying to say "Hiring a coach who worked for Andy Reid worked in Philadelphia so let's do that". It turns out that "Been in the same room as Andy Reid for a while" doesn't make you ready to be a head coach.

Sounds like George is too influenced by media and fan pressure. Fields wasn’t ready to start.

 No shit.

He was such a top flight coach that he wasn't even the Bears first choice.

Which is 100% Nagy's fault as I illustrated previously in this thread.

Have to take that with a grain of salt. The other day with Parkins, Hub said flat out McCaskey would not fire Nagy mid-season, and then when Parkins called him out to confirm he has inside knowledge of that, Hub said no, but that was based on "everything I know about George McCaskey over the years and not any first-hand information."

What good coach would come here when Fields is you starting QB? Yech.
Plus the coach knows no draft help coming as Pace traded away the draft slots.

Andy Reid was quoted at the time saying that Nagy was ready, and was going to be a good coach.

I'm more interested in having the McCaskeys restructure the entire organization before seeing the Bears settle on a coach. Not unlike the rise and fall of Trump (and Obama before him), the hiring and failure of Nagy is merely a symptom of a much larger problem.
