The horrible Bears possible story of firing their coach draws more Chicago interest than the Sox '21 playoff appearance.

Young coaches that actually want to have a career.

The Bears consistently don't provide a system for a coach to succeed. They are too loyal to front office / GMs that seem to have a noncohesive agenda with the coaching staff.

If I was a young, up-and-coming coach with potential I wouldn't touch this job.

You can just get the John Foxs of the world or a young nobody.

They just keep hiring unqualified people

Not true . Wanny was THE hot prospect at the time and they got him . Lovie was also a hot assistant when they got him ( and was a good coach). Even Trestman was widely lauded as a next level think outside the box good hire .

BR is correct here.

The Bears have hired the hottest guy three times over the last 25 years or so.

And Lovie was the only one of the three that worked out.

Jauron was a top flight coach as well.

I’m not saying they’ve never done it. I’m saying they suck at supporting them and no hot shot…now… would take the job unless the money was ridiculous.

I'm more interested in having the McCaskeys restructure the entire organization before seeing the Bears settle on a coach. Not unlike the rise and fall of Trump (and Obama before him), the hiring and failure of Nagy is merely a symptom of a much larger problem.

If the Bears are looking for another accountant to run the professional union football corporation, I have time.

I don't actually.

But, I'll make the time. I've worked with family businesses in the past. Passed? Past. Previously.

They could put you and Dolphin in charge of the draft and have a better success rate than Pace. Just don't trade away any more picks, motherfucker.

After reading over where he has worked I would be fine if he is the guy.

McCaskey supposedly met with team and coaches today and said there is no truth to rumors

Pace has been suspiciously absent from these stories...shouldn't he have been the one to talk to the team first?

And Hub with the "bombshell" news today that it was McCaskey himself who ordered that Fields be the starter.

Is he trying to be Jerry Jones?

Pace is playing the John Paxton role. Bad coaching hires, bad draft picks and bad free-agent signings, but ownership seems to like him. The Bears need to do what the Bulls finally did and clean house from top to bottom.

Sounds like the Bears are doing a 180, only because the story was leaked.

And George extends Nagy for 2 years just to show the media and whoever leaked it.

It's probably giving Nagy too much credit to think he could orchestrate the leak knowing the bumbling front office would rather back off than take another PR hit.

I think it's worth considering the possibility that Lazor leaked it, although using the Patch guy would seem unlikely in his case.

They will intentionally not fire him tonight to spite the media, and wait until the Cardinals put 45 on them next week to pull the trigger.

What would be the motivation for Lazor to leak it?

My theory:

The higher ups decided Nagy was done but did not tell him. One of the higher ups did not agree with firing Nagy right now and leaked the story. They knew by leaking they would back track. I highly doubt Konkol made that up out of thin air.

Desmond Howard, the 1991 Michigan Heisman Trophy winner, jokingly pushed a theory that Johnson mentioned on a radio show that the Chicago Bears will replace coach Matt Nagy and hire Day to groom former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.

Host Rece Davis joked: "That sound like wishful thinking."

Howard laughed and said: "It just makes perfect sense. The young man needs help in Chicago."
