Im not a comedy guy so im trying to give you a break on Meet the Parents and Me Myself and Irene, but just come on man.

Glad you changed your tune though.

To use RFDC’s analogy:

90s = Jordan

70s = Dwayne Wade

80s = George Gervin

2000s/2010s = Ray Allen, DeMar DeRozan

There is no Kobe in this analogy

The 90s beats the 40s in the cartoon movie genre too.

Frank and Z make good points. 40s better than the 90s too.

Jesus Christ

Other than Casablanca, Rope, Treasure of the Sierra Madre and The Maltese Falcon, good god, the rest is garbage.

Brick is right...the 90's cartoons are better...And I hate the Lion King.

I think the 70's is the correct answer.

The Exorcist
The Godfather (and part 2)
Jaws
Marathon Man
The French Connection
Blazing Saddles
History of the World part 1
All the President's Men
Network
The China Syndrome
The Posideon Adventure
The Warriors
Airport
Star Wars

Obviously I'm being a little facetious as of course color and special effects in the 90s blows anything from the 40s or 50s out of the water.

But when you look at other things- the acting, cinematography, music, etc- some of those movies on my list are second to none. Of the movies listed in this thread, Shawshank has probably the best in that department.

The stories, too. Fantasia sucks. Bambi is crap, too.

FF is correct.

70s are close, but 90s get the edge.

40’s also had “Treasure of Sierra Madre”, “Dead of Night”, “Gaslight”, “Notorious”…just about every film noir classic. 40’s/90’s FTW.

40's/90's/70's/50's is a pretty solid Mount Rushmore. 60's/80's has a lot of great, but a lot of schlock too.

movies going to shit coincided with TV improving it's content by about 1,000,000% starting in the early 2000's.

Remember when the only place to find quality TV shows was on the networks? Now those are the last place you look for good TV.

Rocky 4 is great, the list I just posted absolutely fucking murders yours though

I love Rocky IV but Jesus Christ, man, it’s not a great movie.

It’s an 82 minute music video with a ton of reused footage.

So, The Beatles are why we have Rocky IV?

I try to forget that movie exists. Back in the mid 90's, you could count on HBO showing that like 3 times a day.

Most stuff prior to the 60's is too painful to watch, but the list of the 40's is certainly legit.

What I do know is shit got bad in the 2000's and 2010's got even worse. This decade doesn't show anything getting better. Bad remakes, a bunch of CGI...all garbage.

It’s such a beat down that it’s almost uncouth to run up the score.

The movies excluded from the various 90s lists posted thus far would still beat every other decade.

It’s like Brady’s career where you can break the 90’s up into three different sections of years and still have a list that competes with every other decades best
