The MNMS was brodcast on the web for years. Every show on WMVP and WSCR is available worldwide on the Internet.

Why is Mike's Webio show innovative? . . . because it's web only and not available on the airwaves? That sounds like a limitation, not an innovation.

His guys, spaceball, jen and bebe feed him that crap and he buys into it because he is insecure. Also, when it comes down to it, he is just to stupid to realize the crap people feed him, its pretty simple.

Because its "emitted" from its sponsor, a restaurant, not from a broadcast facility. That's the innovation. Everything else is no bfd.

Actually, the show is done via Talkzone which also provides such gems as Pageant Radio and Wild about Pets.

Wildfire merely provides a link to it from their website and is not involved in the production or stream.

The "innovative" part is that its a broadcast over the internet sponsored by one main corporation. A broadcast for one client. Proprietary content for a company.

Its also fairly independent from the radio puds. No need for the corporate radio titans to be involved.

OK, its not the electric car here, but I don't think the "innovative" claim as anything to do with web streaming / podcasts.

I have to give them credit. They've kept trying to push forward and beat the big corporate system. Easier said than done.

People rip them for saying "its fun to build something from scratch." But that's what being an entrepreneur is all about.

And the North's have been entrepreneurs from the start. From a food service, to a handicapping show and all the way to the top of radio. These types of rugged individualists bristle when the heavy hand of corporate America attempts to beat them down. Mike said F U to that. Will he end up in a "better" place? Who knows. If they were smart w/ the $$$, the lost salary is not as big a deal as enjoying what you do.

The rugged individualists are what makes this country great. Not the corporate kowtowers. We all know what camp the Norths are in, warts and all.

"Beat" the corporate system by coning another representative of corporate America to sponsor an economically unsound (in the next 5-7 years at least) business model only because the guy who happens to be in charge of it is a former softball buddy.

Many early stage ideas are not economically viable in the early stage.

I'm not sure about how this thing is financed. I would bet that Wildfire is not fronting much $$$ at all, so I doubt they are losing money. Its "free pub" for the website (good pub is another question). Talkzone is likely financing the studio time to add content to their lineup, I would imagine. The Norths appear to be landing their own advertisers. Who is losing any serious money here? If anyone, it would be Talkzone, IMO.

And yes, North is trying to "beat" the system by trying to remain viable in the market without having to work for the large radio corporations and have to abide by their rules. Granted, this operation will not pay anywhere near what he turned down, but if you have millions in the bank and don't live a lavish lifestyle, then quality of life is more important than a few hundred thou to many.
