I am really getting sick of IPA. Never thought I would say that, but I am. I would kill for a decent Stout or Porter.
Other thing that pisses me off is flavors. I want beer flavored beer, not cherry not chocolate. About the only ones I tolerate are when they age them in barrels. Kentucky something has a vanilla that is awesome. Another thing, I know you fucking people are raised on American piss water. Not all beers are to be served ice cold. Actually the higher the Alcohol content the closer to room temp beer is to be served.

Only non ipa or apa I see out this way from 3 Floyds is Robert the Bruce Scottish ale which is a change of pace.

Alpha Klaus will be out soon and it's a good porter from them.

Pliny the Elder is fantastic. Had it many times when I was in the San Fran area. If you know anyone going out that way in the near future, hit them up and have them bring you back a couple bottles.

Check out https://halftimebeverage.com I did get a Pliny as part of a gift box.

I have not had HT but I’d love to try it.

I’m realizing more & more that the hazies fuck up my digestive system.

One or two are ok but I’ve come to realize there’s a reason things are filtered.

I'm getting there too with them. Plus, I'm getting tired of the style - actually went West Coast for my recent add to the kegerator.

I had a Leinenkugel Chocolate Dunkel last night and was pleasantly surprised.

Noon Whistle is very good, but in my view they're a couple levels below Hop Butcher as far as Chicago-area IPAs go. I also prefer some of the stuff I've tried by Maplewood and Sketchbook (though Sketchbook is typically not as good as Noon Whistle).

I like Noon Whistle’s Triple IPA that’s brewed with honey. Don’t recall the name off the top of my head.

I went to Hala Kahiki tiki bar this weekend. I had one rum drink but I was with a group and we would be there for a while so I switched to beer. They had what might have been the best light beer I have ever tasted from a brewery in Hawaii, Kona Brewery Company: Mai Time Light. So full of flavor for a light and not horrible abv at 4. I had pregamed with bourbon so I didn't need a lot of alcohol anyway.

I had wanted to go to that place for a long time. I thought it was pretty cool for a fun group place with all the expected bamboo and flaming drinks. I was surprised how crowded it was when I left at 1:30. Gene and Jude's was half a block away so I got a dog before the closing. I semi witnessed a murder at the bowling alley nearby. I was standing in the parking lot slobbering on myself when about 10 police cars came by with lights and sirens blaring and a guy drove into the parking lot saying he saw someone get shot.

Eventful night.

Anybody know when Hop Butcher is going to open in the old Half Acre space on Lincoln Avenue? I'll probably be in town in February and am hoping it will be going by then.

Would you like some of the Double Blazed Orange I just purchased? I find it revolting.

I am curious about it, but I'm not a huge fan of milkshake IPAs. While the mouthfeel can't be beat, the flavors are often disorienting. Double Blazed Orange is intriguing, though, because it sounds like a knockoff of a pretty great Treehouse beer--King Creamsicle.

I’ll be in town next week. I’ll check Binnys. Any of their stuff or is there one beer that is their flagship? Edit: No, I’m not interested in milkshake IPAs.

Hop Butcher makes non-milkshake IPAS. They brew some of the best hazies in the country.
