If he's a cocksucker I hardly find that useless.

It looks to me like he plays stiff. Not a lot of knee bend or explosiveness; average blocker and route-runner; surprising lack of strength and balance for someone his size; slightly below average hands.

he's a decent, startable tight end who will likely have a 10 year career in the league. He's not dynamic.

If you ignore the drops he's doing all the right things otherwise.

Freirmouth dropped essentially the same pass for the Steelers on Thursday.

He's 13th in TE receptions and 15th in yards while being 10th in targets so he is just a shade off where you would expect his production to be compared to his chances.

Top 20 TE. He's nowhere near the elite guys but as a second year player is a perfectly playable as a starting TE. The youth should mean he still has room to grow.

I'm not thrilled with his stone hands but people who think he's some kind of wasted mid 2nd pick are off.

He doesn't block well either.

Usually teams are willing to trade some blocking for some extra athletic ability.

The same athletic ability that Kmet lacks.

People complained that Greg Olsen didn't block well either. He went on to put up some hall of fame worthy numbers.

He at least caught the ball. That's still a challenge for Kmet.

if he's not dynamic then he isnt going to have a 10 year career. he'd need to be a hell of a blocker or receiver... seems like he's neither of those.

I've been surprised to see him in on special teams (and he recovered the fumble on a punt last night). Is that typical for starting tight ends?

I remember watching him play baseball for St. Viator. As a senior, he looked like a man among boys when he pitched against my son's team in the state semi-finals. He looked absolutely monstrous. But it goes to show how massive and strong NFL players are...he's just an average-size TE or maybe even small.

Does he regularly play ST or was is he just or the "hands" team? I don't recall seeing him on the field for ST.

He was the Bears top draft pick. That must be a hit. Kmet has been a miss. He's hurt the Bears more than he has helped in most games.

He's a guy that every other team in the NFL would be looking to upgrade from.

JP Holtz is already in year 5 of a career.

I'd say we should bet on it by either I or the board may be dead in 10 years

I think if the desired outcome is the next Darren Waller, Kelce, Andrews, etc., then there's disappointment. But if the expectation is adequate catching and above-average blocking then maybe he demonstrates potential.

originally were talking about kmet. K's and qb's can have long careers... qb's even if they arent very good (yes chase daniel im talking about you). but what position player is playing 10 years in the NFL if they arent REALLY good at doing some aspect of their postion? meh players dont hang around long because there are younger cheaper healthier meh players entering the league every year.

He was a middle second round pick. Whether that is their first pick that year isn't really relevant. I expected a little something more but as I have shown, it isn't outside of the realm for TE picked much higher than him in previous drafts. He's definitely not a miss now and I doubt he will be looked at as such at the end of his career. Teams may be looking to upgrade if he was their #1 but as I have shown, he's a top half of the league TE in production today, as a second year player and with all the flaws we see.
