Lofton wasn't resigned because Corey Patterson had been destroying the ball in 2023 before tearing his ACL and it looked like he would be the star everyone predicted he'd be when he returned.

Like much in 2004 didn't turn out that way.

2004 was HR or Nothing offense. Usually doesn't work.

I said early and loudly (in my first posts on this board in 2004) that getting rid of Lofton was a huge mistake. Corey was an all or nothing guy in 2003 as well and the approach Lofton had at the plate was rubbing off on the younger guys on the team.
