That's because ltg and wfr are fucking idiots. And at least one of them is racist.

wfr has posted things worse than America/Antarctica has more than once. Every time they're pointed out, Seacrest brushes it aside. It is what it is.

Nas, I can understand not being shocked, but how can you say it doesn't bother you that a judge talks and acts that way seemingly pretty casually. That bothers me.

Maybe seeing 40 right around the corner is making me soft. Seriously, I can't say that being completely exhausted by MANY demanding that everyone be outraged about everything doesn't factor in. In the end it's more about people demanding that she lose her job though. What she said during the moment someone was trying to rob her family doesn't rise to the level that she should be removed from the bench to me. I'm not sure that I would even be comfortable enough to call her a piece of shit without more information. People shout worse things out of anger in situations that aren't potentially life and death.

She shouldn't be removed from the bench. However no one will actually ever know if her racist views factor into her decisions. Even when they think they know there will be room for plausible deniability. There always is. I doubt that she will be voted out either. This will simply be a blip but what will most likely occur is that her judicial decisions will be more heavily scrutinized.

I get it Nas, but if thats one of the first things that she shouts during an incident like that, its probably not the first time she has used the phrase. There are hundreds of other curse words and insults you can yell at a time like that. I truly do get the 'heat of the moment' thing, but this is a judge. If she's yelling this during a robbery, what might she be thinking inside with a murder or rape suspect standing in front of her?

I said she should be removed from the bench- for now- but I agree maybe she should not lose her job right off.

Casually dropping the loaded term "roach" 10x'd the bigotry. 1910's Turkey/Armenians, 1930's Germany and their thing and as recently as 1990's Rwanda the term was used to diminish entire populations to not good ends.

They're bugs, Wyatt. All that smart talk about "live and let live". Ain't no "live and let live" with bugs.

Home is home; it's where you don't have to guard yourself. You should hear the shit I say in front of my wife. Not the N-word, certainly, but I have some choice words for others.

But she gets it; she understands that I am momentarily frustrated, and if I get especially frustrated, she tells me to can it.

I would never say anything like this in front of my kids for the obvious reasons (it's fucking wrong, it's being a bad role model, it's showing how to take argumentative short cuts, etc.) and the less obvious reason, which is that they might not know how to process it and then I end up on the Internet. Her saying this in front of her kids shows worse judgment than her saying it.

I just assume everyone has dropped a racial, ethnic, or sexuality based slur at some point in their lives despite finger pointing and "not I" protestations. Great if you haven't but I don't believe you. Words would have to be coupled with something more significant for me to significantly alter my opinion of someone (the context of the use is relevant also). It debases yourself more than it does the person at whom you are directing the words.

Sure, I agree. And those are two of the people I had in mind.

Still, if a person does say something that is persuasive in its more rational form, their character may be irrelevant, even if their character brought them to observation in the first place. That's just basic Aristotle.

Of course, a truth that's told with bad intent/beats all the lies you can invent.

Is it particularly "persuasive" when he labels someone "self loathing" simply because they happen to disagree with him on race?

She shouldn't lose her job over that comment so I don't know what those consequences might be.

To borrow a phrase from jbi11s: Nope, can't do it.

I couldn't imagine taking a client to trial in front of her. But that also doesn't presume that there aren't scores of similar feeling judges like her throughout the country.

Looks like she's toast. A Louisiana judge is taking an unpaid leave of absence after she repeatedly used a racial slur in a video recorded at her home and posted to social media, and Gov. John Bel Edwards on Thursday called for her resignation.

To be clear, she and her family were watching a security video of the robber being captured when the slurs were uttered. They were laughing about it as well so I don't think they were in fear for their life.

Unless I'm completely missing something, her kids were providing a recap of the attempted robbery.

Lafayette police responded to a failed burglary of two vehicles at Odinet’s home in Bendel Gardens at around 2 a.m. Saturday. A 59-year-old Black man was arrested and charged with two counts of simple burglary.

In statements to local media, Odinet said her family was the victim of an armed burglary, but a Lafayette Police spokesperson told the Daily Advertiser there was no indication that the suspect who was arrested had a weapon.

We wouldn't even know what she said if her kids didn't provide a video recap to embarrass her.

Think about what we're doing here. A woman had her property burglarized in the middle of the night, but the man who committed the crime isn't the focus, we're focusing on what the victim said during a traumatic event. We are looking to punish the victim of a crime for what they said during said crime. It's absurd. All of us would have said something offensive to the burglar. So we're essentially debating what is acceptable to say during a traumatic event.

Is there a crime that she could have been a victim of where we could overlook the words she used while being victimized? Would rape be acceptable? What about if her kids were murdered or harmed? If the dog was hurt? What are the offensive things that you can say while being victimized that won't cost you your job?

I think some of it is due to the type of job that she has. The fate of some black people is in the palm of her hands.

I completely understand that. I'm sure her decisions are being looked at this moment.
