as a lifelong Giants fan I can tell you it has been a ride of extreme peaks and valleys, and this promotion is a hilariously deep valley that will likely get much deeper.
Those two wins over the Pats were epic. Lucky guy you are
For sure, but I enjoyed Eli's win over 15-1 Rodgers even more
Naturally a Super Bowl victory will always outrank any other game as far as a list of favorite games go, but aside from them, my top five favorite giants games I can remember:
1 - 2008 NFC Championship game against Packers at Lambeau 23-20, frigid cold, Brett Favre looking like he'd rather be anywhere else than playing that game, the joy of seeing Corey Webster jump that route and intercept that shitty pass was indescribable
2 - 1987 NFC Divisional playoff against 49ers 49-3 ass-whipping, "Massacre at the Meadowlands", Giants pummel Joe Montana from start to finish, my first real celebratory Giants "moment" shared with my dad.
3 - 1991 NFC Divisional playoff against Bears, 31-3, at the height of my Bears hatred (they had been so good for so long, still smarting from getting whipped in '86 NFC Championship game). If i remember correctly Parcells let FB Maurice Carthon smash one in with only seconds left in the game as a final "fuck you" right at Dan Hampton in what I believe was his last game. Good times.
4 - 2008 NFC Divisional playoff against Cowboys 21-17, Terrell Owens cries like a bitch game ("That's my quarterback"). The shock that the Giants had actually run that game among the prognosticators was awesome, but the ride surely was coming to an end the next week, right? (see #1)
5 - 2001 NFC Championship against Vikings 41-0, giants out-gain Vikings 518-144 and hold Moss and Carter to 5 catches and 42 yards between them, Kerry Collins goes berserk, totally unexpected result and hilariously fun to watch. My son was born days prior to Super Bowl XXXV and came home on Super Bowl Sunday just in time to watch the Ravens obliterate them with his dad.
Honorable Mention - 2011 NFC Divisional playoff against Packers 37-20, going up there and doing it again felt so good, something about quieting that stadium and sending them home sad is extra-special
Being a Giants fan isn't easy most of the time, but semi-regularly they have a good run so I can't complain too much.
