Who would have guessed?

This was on the Today Show today but here is an article from our pre-mask society.
https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=11462066

The only takeaway I have from this is that we shouldn't trust anyone on environmental issues. I wonder how many terrible ideas we have right now!

70s idea: Throw tires in the ocean.
2000s idea: Cut them up and have kids play on them.

Everyone knows you leave them in burn piles and drainage ditches and then forget they are there when it’s time to burn the brush there.

Tire on its side with a few gallons of diesel, lit and set on top of a green brush pile with a backhoe. Nothing better.

In reality, who could have predicted that there would be hurricanes near a pile of 2 million tires submerged into the ocean in Florida?

JERRY: Hey, what's with these signs?

KRAMER: Hey, you should see the Berkhardt, Jerry. My mile is spotless. I mean the big stuff was easy. Cinderblocks, air-conditioners, shopping carts (makes sound -zzzzzzup), I just rolled 'em into the woods!

JERRY: Yeah, that stuff's all natural anyway.
