content being what it is these days? There's so much good TV out there it's literally impossible to see it all unless you're unemployed.

I have cable and like 8 streaming services and there’s almost never something I want to watch. I’m just that damn discerning.

I liked when Tom Hanks Jr. said "Bye whore!". lol

Also, how Dexter's son aged many years when he was thrown off of the treadmill.

I doubt that. You just don't know what to look for.

I bet i could find 5 amazing shows you would love that you never even heard of. What type of shows do you like? Can you handle subtitles or are they a deal breaker? What are some shows you really enjoyed?

I have Comcast, Netflix, Hulu, disney+, paramount+, prime video, apple+ and Cease+.

I like most genres; series still in production I’ve enjoyed are Yellowstone, Ted Lasso, Narcos, Peaky Blinders and Jack Ryan to name a few.

Subtitles are fine, though I prefer languages I moderately understand, like Spanish or whatever it is poor British & Irish people speak.

Cease+ is only broadcasting every 5th day for a couple hours. You should get rid of that

here are some off the top of my head on Netflix, let me know if you've seen any of these...

Godless (very good Western limited series)
Mindhunter (docu drama on FBI profilers of serial killers)
Broadchurch (excellent crime mystery series from England)
Lupin (french crime suspense I am about to start, supposed to be great)
Black Summer (great series about zombies, new season just came out)
Travelers (good canadian sci fi show about time travel)
Fauda (phenomenal Israel show about fighting terrorism)
Umbrella Academy (excellent super hero type show)

Thanks. I’ll try these out.

I’ve seen mindhunter and broachchurch. Started Fauda but gave up on it.

Dexter back tonight!

Clyde Phillips back as showrunner (handled seasons 1-4). Starting from the basement in terms of expectations post-lumberjack episode, so there’s only one direction to go.

Well then, I had no idea. I’ll chalk it up to season premieres typically serving as table setters.

Either way, my blinders will be firmly in place when I turn it on later.

Do I need to finish up the first set of season to watch? I loved 1-4 and then quit during S7.

Maybe? Idk - you may be confused by a couple things but you’ll pick up the plot no problem.

I thought this first ep was awesome.

I dig the small town vibe. Dexter has been called James, Jim, Jimbo, and Jamie.

Why did Dexter fire his Dad Conscience?

I thought it was supposed to be a nod to his 10yrs of abstinence - he’s no longer following Harry, he’s more in line with Deb?

Probably more has to do with keeping Jennifer Carpenter around because nobody gives a shit about James Remar.

Really don't like his son being back. Dexter develops this completely new identity as the small town nice guy, but his son that was a couple years old when he last saw dad tracks him down in the middle of nowhere?

If this is 10 years after Dexter leaving Miami, Harrison should be like 14 or 15. He's more like 18-20 or so in this episode.

Seems that way. For some reason his ghost sister spent a lot of that episode in a bath robe.

Dexter should've ended at the Trinity Killer season. Everything that followed was trash

I think Showtime has a thing for running good shows into the ground. They did it with Dexter, Weeds, Shameless, and probably some others I forgot.

Homeland was quasi-Dexterish in that regard.

Definitely would agree. I think that show fell apart when Brody was no longer on it. I guess we'll see them do the same thing to Billions now.

Season was going really well until tonight's show. One more episode left next week. No word of season 2.

Will be interesting to see what tonight's show brings to the season finale.

The ending was brutal. This entire season was awful. I could go into detail but suffice to say that the retcon of several very key points destroys this series in a way that I've never seen in a major TV series before. It felt like they started with the ending and did whatever they had to do with whatever implausible points were necessary to bearing us to the last 10 very hurried minutes. It also had the feel that it was written for 12 episodes and edited or crammed into 10. Waited 10 years for a repair of what's overwhelmingly known to be a botched finale and the OG finale looks like a masterpiece in comparison.
