Covid and his season is over

I don't feel like I know much more about his future than I did when he was drafted. Same with Jenkins.

So I guess that is like having an extra 1 and 2 in this year's draft.

I've rarely been more disappointed in player. You all got my hopes up and now I'm going into an offseason with far more questions about him than I thought I would.

You’re not going to know anymore about his future at the end of next year either because when he sucks again it’ll be “ HE’S LEARNING A NEW SYSTEM , HE’S YOUNG !!! “

What is the proper amount of games to declare a QB a bust?

This is the way it was done for generations. I wouldn't be so despondent. Get a good HC & OC and he'll be fine.

Yeah, we'll know by the end of next season, assuming the delicate princess can keep himself healthy enough to play. But even if he can't, that's an indicator of where we stand, too. I still think Fields will be very, very good. But I am also of the opinion that the Bears need to draft a QB in the third round of this year's draft.

There are some exceptions, but in general you can predict if a QB is going to be a bust after year 2. Drew Brees is the biggest exception to that rule but if you haven't been good in year 1 or year 2 then you probably aren't ever going to be good.

There a few guys like (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and Goff who have good second years who eventually regress but they almost prove to be at least a starting level quarterback.

That's what I'm hoping. I wanted him to give me something to go into the offseason that I could be excited about. I have nothing. What I've seen has created doubt.

Don't worry, I'll have him in the HoF by Week 1. I just need to refill my cup.

This is the one year I would be just fine not drafting a QB. The guys projected in the first round suck and it gets really bad from there.

The same thing was said in 2017. That draft produced a HoF QB, a superstar QB and a pro bowl QB.

Jason Lieser of the Sun-Times said he "thinks" Fields will be good, but don't "know" he will be -- unlike someone like Justin Herbert where it was obvious after his rookie year. I wonder whether beat reporters covering Trevor Lawrence or Zach Wilson feel the same. Mac Jones is the only rookie who has succeeded in at least establishing a baseline of being able to manage a game within a system.

Even if Fields's ceiling is Russell Wilson, and I doubt that it is, we've already lost one valuable year of his rookie deal and the Bears are still in salary cap hell. The blueprint of striking while the QB is cheap is probably not going to work unless Fields takes a monumental step with a new regime.

It would be nice if the Bears had a full compliment of draft picks to throw one at a QB, but Pace…

who did they think was going to go QB in between 12 and 20?

11 Bears/Giants
12 Cowboys
13 Chargers
14 Jets
15 Patriots
16 Cardinals
17 Raiders
18 Dolphins
19 Redskins
20 Giants/Bears

Patriots going QB, but probably Jones even if Fields was still on the board.

After that, Dolphins maybe? But they were and maybe still are planning on getting Watson from Houston. Redskins most likely of the bunch to draft a QB, but
they were still smarting from the Dwayne Haskins experience and might've taken a
pass on another tOSU QB. I'd say you wait til after Patriots draft and then if Fields is still
on the board you throw the Dolphins a 3rd or later pick to move up ahead of the Redskins.

Heard on some gambling pod today that Fields is top 10 among all qualifying QB's by some metric(s) for the 2nd half of the season.

I thought the Vikings were trying to trade up to take Fields.

yeah there were several reports of the Vikings and I think one other team who were trying to get up into that area to take Fields.

Zach Wilson was so bad early that he was written off, and playing for a Jets teams that is ignored keeps him under the radar but he has been much better the last 1/4 of the season.

No training camp as a 1, didn't start the season, ankle injury, cracked ribs, covid....

Get the guy a full off-season as the guy, an offense designed for his skills, an offensive line that can pass protect, and all the vaccination drugs required, and let's see what happens next year.

Then, I'll decide.

Sounds exactly like what many were saying about Mitch (except for the vaxxing).

There was no honeymoon for (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky because of what Mahomes and Watson were doing. Fortunately, Fields doesn't have the same "pressure".

That was actually a good one, Zippy. The offseason priority for the Bears has to be the reconstruction of the offensive line. Mustipher can't return as center, and the Bears need to be absolutely certain that they have (at minimum) a competent starting left tackle. If he's willing to do it, they might want to bring Jason Peters back as insurance. That way, Jenkins or Borom can be eased into the spot at LT.

We all knew he would only have to suffer Nagy for a year, just glad he didnt tear his achilles or acl.
