Cashiers at Jewel used to make 50 cents more than minimum wage to start. The baggers are at minimum wage, but you have to pay union dues so it's less than minimum wage. The part-timers without benefits are the lowest of the low.

Where you live and who your employer is are obviously the key, but according to Zip Recruiter:

As of Jan 2, 2022, the average annual pay for a Target Cashier in the United States is $43,968 a year (that works out to be approximately $21.14 an hour).

Walmart avg cashier is $16/hr in the Chicago area.

I see ads right now for Portillo’s and Canes offering $15/hr.

For whatever reason Jewel pays less however (I see a range of $10-$12). It should be noted that the higher number are clearly not “starting salaries”.

HEY IF ANYONE WANTS TO SEE HOW PEOPLE WITH BAD INTENT CAN FUCK WITH GUNDAM RX178MKII TITANS EDITION OVER HERE.... last night i am having a wonderful night, scouting home of the whopper statues and fun fun fun. i hung out with some random dude i met on the L spent like $32 on a $25 gift card and made sure i had food for the homeless when i left. instead of stopping off at starbacks to get a nice vanilla bean frappuchino this dude wanted to take me to foot locker where i saw thqt blacked out JAMES/23 lakers kit and i only had $36 in my pocket but i'm just like lolllllll i see you but fam i got a nickname for T. I. for you, man, sometimes you gotta know when to pop out of a buffet line. but it kept me alone...
