It’s not just he was a bust at 2, but they also (most would agree) needlessly traded up one spot for him.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if the situations were reversed (Fields drafted in (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's class and vice versa), after their rookie year we'd have said Fields was clearly the wrong pick and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was promising.

He had a far better rookie year with absolute bums around him.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was hammered because he was an unknown in college and because Mahomes and Watson had success immediately. Fields gets a pass because people loved him in college, his class has been bad and he's our first black quarterback in a long time.

What's a pass after a rookie year? You have to be more transparent about your standards otherwise it just seems like you're being unreasonable about a rookie. Trust me, speaking for myself only I guess, I am more than willing to apply the same bust label to Fields as I did to (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, and the fact that fields was beloved in college or is African American doesn't matter at all. My own personal deadline for that kind of label is 25-ish starts. I think to start throwing that label around after 6 or 7 scattered starts or whatever is unreasonable.

Waiting 25ish games is fine, that didn't happen. If you go back to 2018 and look at our threads, we had already toe tagged him in Week 1 or 2 because he wasn't Mahomes or Watson and because the trade was stupid. From there, we mostly hate watched to confirm what we believed. As a fan base, I believe that we would have been patient IF (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky were drafted this year or in Baker's class. He may still be on the team if that were true.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky never truly got better. That is why he is viewed poorly. The record was good in year 2 and his stats were decent, but it was becoming clear that he wasnt very bright in terms of reading defenses. That’s a killer in the NFL.

He was viewed poorly before his 2nd year was halfway over. Every positive thing he did was credited to Nagy. It's not fair, but it comes with the territory of not being Mahomes.

I don't disagree that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky didn't improve much after his 2nd year and still struggled to recognize a zone defense in his final year. Some would call that the Nagy Effect. Only 2 skill players improved under Nagy. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is still statistically better than anyone who has played quarterback for Nagy and his production and efficiency makes him one of the top 2 quarterbacks in the history of our franchise..

Couple things, Nas:

Remember, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky played 12 games his rookie year while mahomes sat. So the comparisons started in year 2 after (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky already had a 12 game head start. Regardless, people really got critical, including myself, in year three when he regressed/didn't improve. That's when I started viewing him as a bust. That's about 30 games into his tenure.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky ranks up there with Cutler and a few others as our best franchise QBs statistically. However, that says more about the team then it does about those QBs.

Fair enough. I don't want to debate (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky anymore.

It's not good news that pace wasn't let go with Nagy. The Vikings firing the coach and GM together is what we need here. Pace being promoted looks to still be alive...

Now can we hire Harbaugh and give him GM and coach responsibilities?

I wonder if the football media aggressively ridiculing the idea of promoting or retaining Pace had anything to do with his firing.

Absolutely! Bears management are CLEARLY influenced by media. The media and fans could convince them to do just about anything outside of firing Sweaty Teddy.

I wish they’d trial balloon all of their terrible ideas.

Really open this thing up to quasi-public decision by committee, like a bizarro world GB Packers. George could even sell fans a little piece of paper every time they veto some bumbledick plan.

This is why good fans root to lose sometimes..a win yesterday and I believe Pace survives this and Nagy is sacraficed.

Hopefully they have their guy in mind for GM and move on that rather quickly. Can't be screwing around and dragging this crap out

The whole coaching staff should be decided as a fan poll. Who do you like as assistant special teams coach? Video coordinator?

Hire John Dorsey from the Lions. He's always known how to pick players.

Yes, I suggested this a few weeks ago. I would also look at Brian Gutekunst from Green Bay as president of football operations assuming they are restructuring.
