that actually vaguely sounds familiar, the Reykjavik fighter.

This sounds like one of them missed connections from about 32 years ago.

"I saw you playing Punch-Out! at a Krap Alliv bowling alley, and I was the tipsy girl who asked if the fighter was Icelandic. You said you didn't know. We made mad eye contact, but then you said you had to take a d---. Drinks sometime?"

But have you checked out the Icelandic edition? I kind of wish there was an Icelandic edition.

All I know about Iceland is

a) that show with the super-hero gymnast who travels by blimp and chases Robbie Rotten
b) Björk
c) and that song "Little Talks"

I remember my daughter, who was about four, trying to explain the show to me, and the show sounded nuts....and then when I began to see it playing, it was even nuttier. Not a bad show, though. Too bad about Robby Rotten; he was a funny guy.

Sportacus was an amazing athlete, though, and my wife used to drool over him.

I can't stand that type of sexism. If someone is attractive, no need to broadcast the fact.

You obviously haven't seen this version of Peppa Pig...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9Kr7V8adVM

Not suitable for work, or family or anyone other than the Scots.

Is that that disease where you have all these fantasies about prison (more like county jail) sex? A friend of mine had it for four years. A combination of prozac and being paroled cured him.

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

No. It's a glitch in the time/space continuum possibly. It's where a lot of people think an event happened then they suddenly realize it didnt happen but were so sure it did.

It's called Mandela Effect because back in the 80s, many people remember reports that Mandela died in prison. But then when he got out of prison they were surprised as many thousands were sure he died.

FROM WEBSiTE :

The term "Mandela Effect" was first coined in 2009 by Fiona Broome when she created a website to detail her observance of the phenomenon. Broome was at a conference talking with other people about how she remembered the tragedy of former South African president Nelson Mandela's death in a South African prison in the 1980s.

However, Nelson Mandela did not die in the 1980s in a prison—he passed away in 2013. As Broome began to talk to other people about her memories, she learned that she was not alone. Others remembered seeing news coverage of his death as well as a speech by his widow.

Broome was shocked that such a large mass of people could remember the same identical event in such detail when it never happened. Encouraged by her book publisher, she began her website to discuss what she called the Mandela Effect and other incidents like it.

I think in the original arcade version of Punch Out, Glass Joe was from Reykjavik. But I could be wrong.

Funny cuz it's true.

Magnus Scheving was a great reason to watch Lazy town.

I always thought there was a fire and the bar burned down in St Elmos Fire but I think it was the video that made me think that. I was shocked when I saw it again and it did not.

Little Mac faces a total of 14 opponents: three in the Minor Circuit, four in the Major Circuit, six in the World Circuit, and Mike Tyson/Mr. Dream. However, three of the World Circuit bouts involve previously defeated opponents with new moves.[citation needed] All character sprites except King Hippo are used for two characters each, with changes made to colors, head, or special moves.[3] In addition, Mario makes a cameo appearance as the referee in the video game.[4]

These characters include:

Glass Joe, a French boxer born in Paris. He is the first fighter the player faces in the game and the Minor Circuit.
Von Kaiser, a German boxer born in Berlin. He is the second opponent in the Minor Circuit.
Piston Honda, a Japanese boxer born in Tokyo. He is the professional champion of the Minor Circuit, and the player will face him again as the first opponent in the World Circuit.
Don Flamenco, a former bull fighter and boxer from Madrid, Spain. Don is the first fighter from the Major Circuit, and the player will face him again as the third fighter in the World Circuit. He is much more difficult in his second fight; in the first fight, as long as the player avoids his punches and alternates punches to the face, he can continue to punch Don until he falls.
King Hippo, an overweight fighter from the fictional Hippo Island, located in the South Pacific. He can only be hit on the belly, which remains well-guarded until his hands go up to block a face punch; and if knocked down once, he will not get up again. Hippo is the second fighter from the Major Circuit.
Great Tiger, an Indian boxer born in Mumbai, who uses magic to teleport and trick the player; this also works against him, as teleporting makes him dizzy and the player can knock him down with one punch while he is in this state. Tiger is the third fighter from the Major Circuit.
Bald Bull, a Turkish fighter born in Istanbul. He has an movement called the Bull Charge where he will backtrack and then advance on the player with a punch with enough force to knock him down. However, the Bull Charge leaves Bald Bull’s midsection vulnerable and a well-timed body shot will drop him to the canvas. He is champion of the Major Circuit, and the player will face him a second time in the World Circuit after defeating Don Flamenco.
Soda Popinski, a Soviet-Russian boxer born in Moscow who enjoys drinking soda. Originally named "Vodka Drunkenski". The player faces him after defeating Piston Honda the second time.
Mr. Sandman, an American boxer from Philadelphia. He is the top contender in the World Circuit, and the player will face him after defeating Bald Bull for the second time.
Super Macho Man, an American boxer from Hollywood, California who is the World Circuit champion.
Mike Tyson, the last fighter in the video game.
Mr. Dream, a reskin for Mike Tyson in the game's re-releases after the contract with Mike Tyson expires.

I have played a lot of Mike Tyson's punch out recently. I could usually only get through 4 or 5 of the first fighters. Then, I watched the Koach Krab tutorials on YouTube. I play on the NES mini where you can save your progress in the game and I've beat Tyson. I followed the instructions from the videos. It a fairly hard game. But in round two by saving my progress after each knockdown I was able to knock out Tyson 3 times in round two. The hardest part of Tyson was the first 1:30 of round one where if he hits you then you're instantly knocked down.
