Shocking that the posters that don’t like Bernstein criticize his Tweet for not being thoughtful and detailed enough.

It’s a damn shame about Les. End of an era. 69 is way too young. I always listened to him when getting on the road early for a fishing outing. I’ll miss him.

When your job doesn't offer you insurance, that is a problem.

I never liked Les's show. Too damn stupid and weird for me.

But that doesn't matter. His friends and family loved him and talk highly of him. That's all that matters.

Condolences to all who knew him.

The replies to Mac's tweet include an awful lot of people who really want to tell him The Way Things Are. "Nyeeerrrrg, 25 hours is only considered part-time." Bitch, do you think Dan Bernstein at 15 hours is part-time?

I think there is some conflating going on overall though. Les wouldve been on Medicare no? The gofundme is for funeral expenses. Not that Mitch shouldnt have been on the phone with corporate first thing regardless telling them to pick up the tab ( like ESPN did with JD ) . Needing to pimp a gofundme makes them look really bad.

I find it odd that anyone could like bernstein. Likable isn't really a word that comes to mind when I think of him.

Yeah, but it looks like Les wasn't a benefited employee, so he wasn't eligible to purchase them minimal employee life insurance that almost always (at least in my experience) is enough to cover funeral expenses and a little more.

You would think the company has some simple group policy that provides their employees with about $20k in life insurance. Enough to cover basic funeral expenses.

Yes, a large company like Audacy would certainly offer it to BENEFITED employees only, not per diem or casual workers like Les.

If Les was only allowed to be per diem, Mitch should go fuck himself with his own hypocrisy.

It looks bad when these companies have to continue to ask their listeners to essentially cover things that life insurance would cover.

To say the least. The Score is celebrating Les as "a legend and an icon" but evidently treated him as something far less than that. What a shock.

That's something that would make no sense. Per diem?

Yeah, regardless of salary, why wouldn't Les have the same insurance benefits as Holmes or Bernstein? He worked more hours than either of them.

I was going off of TM's quote earlier but trying not to make a quote farm out of it.

You do see that with some TV stations who hire reporters on that kind of basis. But Les had been there for a long time and typically pulled the most on-air hours per week.

Some companies still participate in Medicare because it is cheaper than having them on their corporate plan.

I think the issue with the health insurance is implying that he didn't get the care he needed prior to this which could have contributed to his health condition.

Can't believe someone would be failed by America's health care system and their employer.

I'm shocked that a guy worked until he was 70 and still didn't have savings to cover his funeral. I thought Les was working for love of the game.
