I tested positive over Winter Break after going in with what I though was tonsillitis and a sinus infection. Wasn't bedridden, just wasn't feeling great. I had received both shots for Moderna last winter/spring but no booster since then.

I never got it either, but I don't think it's because I'm unvaccinated.

You don't know you never have had coronavirus in your system. Purdue Rick also. It's my belief both of you have.

Are you saying that my COVID related anecdote may be unreliable?

I think Britain is now following the science. Science is throwing up their collective hands and saying, "it's endemic". Thank God omicron has flu mortality rate or they wouldn't finally admit it.

I think I had it last week. Most likely. Oldest kid tested positive in their weekly Shield test last Thursday. Felt off for a couple of days. Temp never got over 100. Didn't go get tested because I started feeling better after a couple of days. Hung around the house for like 5 days. Oh well.

The overwhelming majority are in agreement. Does any group of people agree 100% about anything? You can find a doctor or scientist who will tell you whatever you want to hear.

Yes, I completely agree, you should consult with your doctor IF you have one. You still don't have to take their advice. That's perfectly fine. Acting as if you know more than them isn't.

As far as I know, I've never had covid. My kids have never had covid. However, their mothers have had it multiple times. As I said in the other section, I've seen people in great shape and health get it and have a negative reaction to it, and 2 of them actually die. I've also seen a 60+ year old woman, who has been carrying around an oxygen tank for 10 years, beat it.

I don't know why you or I haven't gotten it or why my kids haven't gotten it. I also don't know why some people have mild symptoms and others don't. I'm confident that it doesn't have anything to do with exercising outside and taking vitamins. My assumption is that genetics must play a major role.

This is also my assumption. Either I'm the luckiest man alive or I've had covid and had no symptoms.

I don't think this has been about science at all.

I think it's important to make the distinction between having corona in your system and having the disease COVID. Hundreds of thousands of people have tested positive with zero symptoms. In other words, they are immune. This always happens with viruses. How many times has your whole household come down with a cold except for one person?

To me, the scariest thing about pandemics are the immune. Are they carriers who spread the virus? We still don't know.

A lot of doctors have no idea what they're talking about.

I've been to a few PCPs over the past decade with what I thought were fairly to very serious medical problems based on my internet research. In each case, the PCPs Googled my symptoms right in front of me to help them form a preliminary diagnosis. In each case, they came to a different conclusion than I did and were somewhat condescending about my opinion. In each case, I was eventually proven right. Based on what I've heard from friends and relatives over the years, I don't think my experiences are all that uncommon.

PCP's aren't actually in a lab "doing the work", they're mostly relying on data provided by someone else or from their own work experience.

I don't believe that to be the case although the Google algorithm may make it seem that way.

The guys from Stanford and the GBD have been pilloried for their stance. And now, when the vaccine pimps are suddenly agreeing with them we're supposed to ignore how they were treated.

I prefer the scientists and doctors who have been consistent and correct all along rather than the dopey Faucis and Wens who constantly shift the narrative based on politics.

Most scientists and doctors aren't actually in a lab "doing the work". Most doctors aren't even researchers. But even among the research class, it's the grad students and postdocs who are "doing the work", not the principal investigators.

If the overwhelming majority disagreed, I'm confident that information would have found a way to break through.

I don't prefer anyone who is rigid about a problem that they've never seen before. Flexibility in thought is critical when it comes to solving problems.

Christmas Eve was a super spreader for my family. I had a headache for 2 days, was tired, and lost taste for about a week. My daughter was like me but a little less. My mom was in pretty bad shape for a few weeks but is getting better. My dad had a mild cold. My uncle was like my mom. My aunt was like my dad. 7 of cousins had a cold 1 had no symptoms. One of the little ones had no symptoms.

You are doing a very good job of pointing out the flaw in my argument based on anecdotal evidence.
