More like under Kyle Shanahan, whom Quinn replaced with Steve Sarkisian after Shanahan got the 49ers job, and then Dirk Koetter after Sarkisian failed.

Mostly on whether he has a stacked roster. In those instances he’s solidly above average.

Ok ? Bears fans " we have to get a guy who can develop ( or hire the right OC who can ) our superstar in the making young QB

I think it’s fair to question how much a lifelong defensive coach had to do with Matt Ryan’s best year.

The big question is who is going to sharpen Andy Reid's pencils and get him his Sprite Zero during the upcoming draft. I'm glad the Bears hired him. I don't want anyone from the Reid or Belichek trees hired for the Viking jobs.

I'm not ashamed to admit I had never heard of Ryan Poles until this morning on the car ride downtown.

That doesn't make it a good or bad hire. It just means my analysis of the hire is pretty limited.

Who wants to join me in the admission?

I heard Parkins talking about him Sunday morning/afternoon after service. He said his Chiefs contacts was saying the same thing about him that they said about Nagy.

Absolutely. Jumping on a guy with no experience after repeated failures in raiding the Chiefs organization is like 95% of my beef here.

None of that is Poles’ fault or has anything to do with him.

Matt Miller has been on this guy for awhile.

Matt Miller
@nfldraftscout
I’ve written a lot about Poles in the last year. He was my top available GM candidate based on his work as a scout and director. He’s worked under multiple GM styles (Pioli, Wolf, Reid) and is his own blend of those experiences. A very good scout but also understands culture.

He hired three offensive coordinators for the Falcons, two of whom were awful and one of whom was great. History suggests that he's more likely to hire a bad OC than a good one.

Can admit this also.

I can't understand why people are shitting on the recent KC drafts. They've been drafting at the back end of the draft for the last 1/2 dozen years. Of their 2021 draft class, their highest pick was second rounder Bolton who was all over the field for them last week, and their 3rd round pick was their starting center, and this is for a team that is in the AFC title game.

That's a good draft right there, full stop.

In his list of 3 GMs Poles learned from, he seems to have included a guy Poles never worked for and a coach.

Parkins and Spiegel are replaying Miller's reaction to the Pace hire. He said it was a mistake and that Ballard clearly would have been better.

In contrast, Miller also loved the Nagy hire.

Same. Didn't know him at all before today. Looks good on paper, but its the Bears so the paper is probably soaked in gasoline and will blow up sooner or later.

It's George's team and he can do what he wants, but the image of him picking up Poles at the airport is embarrassing.

I'm OK with that, but the fact that he was dressed in an old Honey Bears outfit seems a little weird.

He's a former offensive lineman and that gives him insight on evaluating talent on the offensive side of the ball. Upgrading the offensive line should be already taking place as I'm sure he will have completely different grades on the current group than the hapless Ryan Pace, Poles will likely invest resources in the oline which would mark a drastically different approach than his predecessor.

As for HC, a veteran guy with attention to detail who holds players accountable will instantly improve the team as we have learned that Nagy ran grab ass practices.
