Imagine a league made up of 70% women, Asians, Hispanics, dwarfs or any other group of people, but they only represent 3% of leadership. Most would question it. Women would probably burn the place down.

He can do what he likes. Complaining that he didn’t get a job is kind of silly but maybe he’ll go on to great success as a result of suing every potential future employer.

Agreed. He should have just sued the Dolphins for defamatory remarks. The best they/them should get the job. Flores was considered a liability because of the remarks the Dolphins made about him. They (Dolphins) should have said nothing and wished him well.

Based on Bernstein's Twitter feed, this will be Penn State all over again for him.

Kap and Hood are all over it too.

Only question is where will the Brian Flores statue be built?

The Vikings are responsible for this. It's sad they're going to hire Harbaugh instead of a black guy I've never heard of. How many chances does Harbaugh deserve?

When Bernstein and DiCaro are on your side, it's not a good sign for your argument.

It is fascinating to see the media seemingly unanimously promoting the idea that Belichick hearing that Daboll would be hired before Flores' interview took place confirms that the Giants behaved in a discriminatory manner. There is no evidence or logic to support this view.

Additionally, the media repeating the notion that Flores was "forced" to endure a "humiliating" interview for a job search whose outcome was predetermined is equally puzzling. If Flores knew he wouldn't be hired, why did he participate in this charade? Why would he willingly be an agent of his own humiliation?

Tomlin is one. Others set themselves up to be hired in the future. The rule isn't designed for teams to hire minority candidates. I don't have a problem with the rule.

Strategically, it's career suicide. MANY don't believe that he has a legitimate argument though. Maybe he doesn't personally have a legitimate argument, but I think his general point has some validity.

I think he's also going to get himself sued for defaming those Broncos execs by name. They have a pretty detailed account of the interview that evidences something contrary to his statements and that "They got drunk the night before" is so speculative and damaging that it has to have a response.

I don't think that it has to be 70%. I just think 3% in a league with high turnover is off.

Edit: I have no idea if the turnover rate in elite college football is as high as the NFL.

Way off

the league acknowledges that itself on the macro but then the individual decisions all end the same

The Bears had their thumb on the scale to hire an african american head coach and still didn't even put one as a finalist.

Why? The media also didn't push back on the Dolphins effective smear campaign. This is a clicks story that will be gone fairly soon.

Flores wouldn't be the first minority candidate who interviewed that knew he wasn't going to get the job. MANY hope to hit a home run like Tomlin or simply get the practice to set themselves up for future opportunities. The Rooney Rule affords them that.

I think it's hard to dispute his general point is valid even if it doesn't apply to him. As others have mentioned, his real beef is with the Dolphins

Yes....and it all looks like a media spin job pushed by Ross and Dolphins.

I don't think Flores is wrong here, but he got smeared pretty bad and is likely missing that whole evidence thing.

Still....this should be a wake up call for the NFL owners....you best be fixing this shit.

If the league could suspend Payton a full year for Bountygate, what's appropriate for Ross trying to pay to tank a full season?

And the Maras look like buffoons, as usual.

Florio on with Bernstein suggesting this should lead to a change in the draft. He’s got a bunch of bad ideas on how to accomplish that.

If they prove that Ross wanted to pay the coach to lose he should be forced to sell the team.

Plus, I think Leslie Frazier had already interviewed with them (maybe twice?). The Giants must have really been focused on following the rules!

People also don't realize there are other reasons you might want to interview someone even if you have a candidate picked out in your mind. Maybe you want to get inside info on the guy's prior team. Maybe you want to get to know him for future openings. Maybe the guy impresses you so much you reconsider your choice.
