Well I mean the theory is that’s why we got this show instead of Mando S3

Episode 6 was so cool, and I’m not even that well versed in the Star Wars animation

Pretty impressed with the special effects on young Skywalker. Very realistic looking.

Disney/Star Wars actually hired a YouTuber who was doing deepfake SW videos to do the Luke Skywalker cgi, and maybe some other characters.

Pretty cool stuff.

Also I’m a BIGFAN of Luke’s musical theme.

Including the Force theme and Yoda’s theme was a nice bonus.

My bad, that’s the force theme, and not specifically for Luke?

Been reading a lot of reviews saying they believe that Vanth may be gone. I didn't think that was as clear as the deputy. Certainly would be a shame if that was the case.

I had the same thought as you.

They made it pretty clear the deputy is DOA.

Not so much with Vanth.

Another shit episode waste of time.

It's like they hijacked the series with this Mando shit and stupid storylines, last week wasting an episode building a starship and now training a puppet and sneaking a western in with the actor from deadwood. how original.

oh was i supposed to be impressed by the fake luke? I'm not that gullible.

The series was going really well when they were actually telling the story of Boba Fett but now just change the name of the series to The Book of Mando.

What a fucking waste of time. Bait and Switch bullshit.

Episode was kinda all over the place and not in a great way. Like all the plots are good (leaning a bit heavily of the aforementioned ‘remember that thing from another show? It’s back!’ Fine, whatever, it’s Star Wars), but stuffing them all into one episode didn’t really do any of them justice. It also makes it seem like they don’t trust Boba to carry the show. Maybe he can’t though. The Grogu training montage was lame. He’s an amazing puppet on the ground but once he did the flippy shit it pulls you out of it.

So Grogu and Ashoka will ride to the rescue next episode right?

I like that they're intertwining characters and stories. It is funny though that the Disney knock off Boba Fett is more interesting than the real Boba.

Boba's only characteristics previously were "no disintegrations," getting chumped by blind Han Solo, and picking up his dad's decapitated head.

There's a balance between old and new that Disney hasn't mastered yet, not that it's easy, mind you. I consider R1 to be the best Disney SW movie so far. The story relies on knowledge of Ep IV, but the plot itself is new. The main characters are all new and as an added bonus to prevent them from showing up again, they all get killed off (Andor prequel show excluded). The "remember that old thing" has some huge names in Leia, Tarkin, and Vader, but they don't really do much other than the complete fan service of Vader mowing down rebels like trash mobs, which I'm 100% there for. That was a good blend of old and new, weighed more towards new, but enough old to keep you in the Star Wars universe.

The other movies/shows kind of live or die by that balance. The sequel trilogy was all over the place on deciding if it wanted to be about the old characters or the new and it suffered for it. The closest it came to being decent was in TLJ when it looked like they were leaning into "new" when Rey was just a nobody and Yoda gleefully blew up the sacred Jedi texts. Then they noped out and she had the texts and lol, she's a Palpatine/Skywalker. Nepotism rules.

The 1st Mandalorian season was heavily weighed towards the new and it was well received. S2 started the parade of "remember that old thing" episodes. I'm not saying they weren't well done, other than I still think Luke's return was uninspired schlock, but like I said with them not trusting Boba to carry his own show, it seemed they didn't trust Mando either.

the original trilogy and everything since has had gaps in the story that can be filled with additional content. Empire had the throwaway line about Han running into IG88 at Ord Mantell, which was part of Shadows of the Empire on N64. Filling in the gaps with known characters doesnt bother me. People throw FAN SERVICE way too often for it to hold any meaning anymore.

New stories with familiar faces can be accomplished and done well.

And I wish Disney was better at it.

I’ve been very satisfied with the attempt to dig themselves out of the crater that was left after the sequel trilogy.

Yeah Filoni and Favreau seem to know what they want to do and how they want to do it.
